guy raised an interesting point - in the Manga and briefly in the Anime, it does seem like Kubo had a different direction for how the Quincies would be revealed. Maybe he realized early he was under a time crunch (plus reportedly had poor health) and dropped it, but it would've been interesting if he could pull enough another mystery type thing
