would say the fame monster also but released just before 2010 but would easily have run in, tho the single cycle was cut off rather short tbh
Blonde?
Cultural impact?
No.
after 4 years of anticipation frank ocean finessed $20 million from UMG, dropped a visual album, went independent, got $20 million more from apple, and dropped a universally acclaimed classic album all in 24 hours
Trilogy has gotta be up there I’d probably put it together with Take Care
Live Love up there
Pure Heroine and Born to Die
It’s hard to place a specific album for Thug or Future but credit to them
Jai Paul definitely pretty big impact but hard to say it was the demo as much as it was BTSTU and Jasmine
Yeezus to some extent same with WTT
Flumes debut
Beyoncé self titled
Skrillex debut
Culture by Migos lowkey
Idk what else or how to rank them but those were all pretty important albums

You’re not wrong but this isn’t an argument refuting what he said
wait a second no ones brought up HOB on here yet wtf
Trilogy as a whole and it’s hard to decouple that from Take Care influence wise in a lot of ways
Mbdtf is
Modern hip hop peaked with MBDTF
Impact yes
Influence not really
TLOP had little impact on the culture
I generally agree
But it was a f***ing massive cultural moment that lasted almost an entire month
If he’d dropped on streaming on release it might have been a different story in terms of lasting impact

that is cultural significance, he didn’t say musical significance
the entire culture was waiting for frank to drop, and blonde was directly attached to the fact that he finessed the music industry. that’s some Michael Jackson Sony Music type s***

I think you’re massively overestimating how many people cared about the label side of things
It was a big moment sure but there were countless big moments and many that were objectively bigger than blonde
To me blondes impact lies in its pervasiveness
That s*** is still everywhere he’s still selling out merch with it the mags are still $600 people still listen to it people still discuss it etc. when you couple that with the fact that he stayed so relevant and like you said had such anticipation for it years later is it’s cultural impact
Impact yes
Influence not really
Mbdtf made rappers more creative, made them step out the box and draw away from the same boring ass verse hook verse hook song structure
U didnt rly have diand guitar solo esque moments anywhere in hiphop before Mbdtf
Also birthed many artists styles e.g. Travis Scott
Mans really snuck brockhampton in there
Deceased
S*** sold a combined like 15k first week lol

I just really don’t think you have DIAND guitar solo moments in Hip shop outside of Kanye and occasionally Travis
I think Travis owl pharaoh s*** was MBDTF influenced but basically everything after that was far more Yeezus influenced
