The fact that the entire album has subtle connections to an overarching theme and narrative that's far more abstract than Channel Orange's makes it better already.
Add into the fact stuff like Seigfried, Solo, and White Ferrari have top notch lyricism in their own and just cut madddd deep. Some of Frank's most personal songwriting ever. And yet it still is easily quotable and relates to the central theme of the album
Even the skits that people don't like make so much sense within the context of the album that its phenomenal
Production is phenomenal too. It's airy and very familiar and palatable but still there's something every once in a while that just sounds a bit out of place (Ivy Outro for example)
I still dont get how you can think cO is superior outside of the sense that its a top notch traditional R&B album when Blonde just pushes so many boundaries in a sense of both Frank Ocean himself and in a sense of most popular artists as well
Also personally my belief is that the album is divided in two parts by the beat switch of nights, where the first half is the life of an adolescent learning more and the second is one of an adult who's gone through and experienced the pain that comes with adolescence. For example we see talking about relatively irresponsible d*** use and teen love in Solo and an almost childlike expression about the concept of love and relationships in stuff like Ivy and Nike. The second half shows a coming of Age, starting with Frank talking about obstacles in his life during the second half of Nights, or friends long gone in Seigfried
i think it's funny everytime someone tries to overexaggerate someone's song structure and writing prowess. to be real Frank's writing is honestly just tumblr drafts that were never published think about that lol.

I don’t understand things so they aren’t good
The more i listen to blonde the more i agree, the abstractness gives it even more replay value
Is abstractness a word idk

please leave
It blows my mind that y’all hear a dude who wrote songs like pyramids and then think that he spent the next four f***ing years writing songs that have no meaning

it really isnt that hard to get what the lyrics mean people just dont like having narratves fed to them on a spoon and that's something extremely prevelant in R&B

It’s definitely better than CO. Never made that thematic connection though, interesting take. I’ve never thought too deeply into his music tbh.
cO is superior to blonde. I think the latter may be one of the most overrated albums of the decade.
The imagery Frank uses to describe his memories is really unmatched imo. It just paints a picture like no other music ever has for me.

You have to have a certain intelligence to understand Frank Ocean
literally the exact opposite. how often do you take the time to read into lyrics of songs? Blonde's songwriting is something that takes a little more time (not effort) to read than a normal song but its perfectly accessible once you do that
I swear you already made this exact thread word for word in OG KTT
classic threads deserve the transfer
