The fact that the entire album has subtle connections to an overarching theme and narrative that's far more abstract than Channel Orange's makes it better already.
Add into the fact stuff like Seigfried, Solo, and White Ferrari have top notch lyricism in their own and just cut madddd deep. Some of Frank's most personal songwriting ever. And yet it still is easily quotable and relates to the central theme of the album
Even the skits that people don't like make so much sense within the context of the album that its phenomenal
Production is phenomenal too. It's airy and very familiar and palatable but still there's something every once in a while that just sounds a bit out of place (Ivy Outro for example)
I still dont get how you can think cO is superior outside of the sense that its a top notch traditional R&B album when Blonde just pushes so many boundaries in a sense of both Frank Ocean himself and in a sense of most popular artists as well
I agree but the points you make aren’t really relevant to what makes Blonde better, besides the production part.
eh i was thinking like you before
but yall can say whatever about blonded supposed superiority in lyrics and whatever, the channel orange songs were better structured, had better songwriting and were overall just better and more enjoyable to listen to

better structure is completely subjective. the fact that blonde is looser and less rigid in how the lyrics are presented is a completely personal choice, alongside the songwriting itself being better
the argument about the songwriting being better is not centered in the fact that it is more appealing to each person or because of structure but moreso about how everything is comprehensive and ties back to a central theme subtly yet effectively, which Channel Orange doesn't necessarily do to the same degree
Gotta agree with OP here. Although Co has some really great songs (pyramids, Forrest Gump, pink matter, sweet life, pilot jones etc) blonde is just on a whole other level for me. First couple times I heard it I was really on the fence about which album was better but one night I sat down and actually listened to what this man was saying through the whole album and not just through each individual song and I wept for hours. Best album of al time I’ll die to blonde
i agree but i think a lot of the ‘theories’ about blonde are reaches
How is my theory a reach
It blows my mind that y’all hear a dude who wrote songs like pyramids and then think that he spent the next four f***ing years writing songs that have no meaning
Really? Didn’t Kanye make Jesus Walks & All falls down in 2004?
Blows out of the water? Pyramids is just as good as any song on Blonde
Yall mfs gas pryamids like the bridge on sierra leone isnt the best thing on the whole album
this s*** has like 5 songs or more that could make me cry. honestly i think ive cried to every song on this album at least once
Same with GKMC and TPAB
The growth those two experienced in between their respective first and second albums is insane
Didn’t read op no offense but i completely agree I find it weird asf when people prefer cO when talking about frank irl
