I’ve only watched In the Mood for Love, should I watch Fallen Angels or Chungking Express? I’m leaning towards the latter but I don’t know much about either film
Can’t go wrong with either tbh, they’re both pretty nonlinear in terms of storytelling and what not

i think chungnking express first imo
i think fallen angels kinda builds off the themes/vibe of chungking in a really cool way. there's really no harm in either one of em first tho
Already watched Chungking through MUBI, it's gorgeous looks beautiful. Fallen Angels following tomorrow!
New restoration?

IIRC The story in Fallen Angels was originally supposed to be apart of Chungking Express, but he decided to flesh it out into it's own film
so I would go CE first then FA
just copped Fallen Angles on Blu Ray (Artificial Eye version which is OOP)
Also got the same version of Chungking Express a few months ago (also OOP)
might not bother getting the CC boxset yet until I can get it for cheaper
New restoration?
yessir, they currently have the restorations of Chungking, Fallen Angels and The Hand as well as Ashes of Time Redux in some countries, with the rest of the restorations still coming soon. So with VPN and whatsonmubi.com you're good to go! edit: not properly displayed on whatsonmubi but Argentina actually aready got everything save for Tears Go By and Days of Being Wild

What are your thoughts on the new changes Kar-Wai made? I read a lot of disparity & grievances regarding the new versions, specifically the colour correction changes & difference in aspect ratio.
I haven't gotten around to seeing them but I know he said these were how he had originally envisioned.
Started my Wong Kar Wai journey today with Chungking Express and didn’t realize it was May 1st cant be a coincidence.
Does anyone have a good site to watch 2046
Amazon versions quality sucks
MUBI with VPN got the new restoration

I haven't seen Fallen Angels yet now cause the friend I also watched Chungking with couldn't make it Friday, we're watching it next week now. I think that's the one with the most noticeable changes..
Chungking I think also got a subtle reframing(?) but it looked completely natural to me, and colors/sharpness etc was gorgeous. It looks rly great.
i recommend to everyone here to purchase or borrow the WKW book
been looking for this
whatsonmubi.com/director/Wong%20Kar%20Wai
now shows all the restored films as available for the coming "6 years" apparently they just made them part of the permanent library? Great move, and only fitting considering MUBI was first founded because of Mood for Love
Finally got to see Chunking Express and In The Mood For Love in theatres hope I can eventually catch Fallen Angels
Yo wtf? He's releasing a short film (no idea how long) with unused footage from the first day of ITMFL as an NFT (smh). Both Tony and Maggie look wayyyy different than the actual movie must be a scrapped idea. I need whatever this is NOW
Sneak Peak:
Maggie man
I gotta get that boxset someday but between that and the Evangelion set it's like I'll have to sell my dang kidney or something
Not too hyped on that trailer TBH.. looking mad commercial.
Wonder how this is going to turn out as a TV series

That's kinda how most of those Asian dramas are tho. Kinda felt like the WKW version of them rather than this connection that keeps tryna be made to ITMFL and 2046
Has the same cinematographer as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon tho so could be wild but still miss Doyle
