I noticed that some folks assume that everybody on this is a sheltered suburbanite that ain’t never seen no real s*** Lmaoo

The perception that niggas who grew up in bad areas don't have internet or don't engage in "non-hood" activities or hobbies is strong

art reflects reality, not the other way around

Art comes from reality, but saying art doesn't effect reality is naive.

If art doesn't effect reality, artist shouldn't even try sending a message.

Its sad someone like Nipsey was spreading positive influence in their community and some stupid f***ing criminal had to take him out

We lost a real, important figure

S*** most rappers I grew up listening to told me that the street s*** is dangerous and not worth going through if you can avoid it.

also this x50, expression isn’t always glorification, especially when it’s presented cautiously a la “the wire” or pac’s discography

Niggas are making music about opps that they kill, opps that they know got killed, how they spin the block,

and are real life gang members and s***.

To act like Music is completely harmless in this scenario makes no sense. Come on y'all.

My dad played 90's rap around me when I was a kid and I turned out perfectly fine, even growing up in an urban city.

There's a lot of negative rap out there for sure but it's just a scapegoat. Dysfunctional families, d****, and poor education plays a much bigger role than rap. Trust me.

  • i’m not mad at this take tho i understand the frustration and i’m def not saying there’s not a point to be made

at the same time we gotta be real and acknowledge niggas get paid to act a fool. rap a lot of niggas meal tickets and the culture is dictated by old label niggas and suburbanite consumers
