There's a lot of bad influences in rap music nowadays and people who can't admit it either aint black or they are a whole f***ing dumbass.

Then again Rap as a whole aint bad because there's still artists trynna say positive things.

art reflects reality, not the other way around

Nah. There are definitely kids growing up who want to be like the rappers that goes both ways in my opinion

I’ve seen, visited and even lived with some of my poorer kinfolk to understand some s*** about black poverty

And what you took away from visiting and living with your poorer kinfolk was the music had a stronger effect on s*** rather than the s***ty infrastructure and lack of resources?

This is why I say that hip hop has done more damage to young African Americans than racism in recent years

So if artists all shut up do you really think anything would change?

Not instantly, maybe not even within 5 years, but over time it would.

Niggas are making music about opps that they kill, opps that they know got killed, how they spin the block,

and are real life gang members and s***.

To act like Music is completely harmless in this scenario makes no sense. Come on y'all.

if that song doesn’t come out is that person opps still dead?

I dont get how someone can legit think rap has no influence at all when it comes to crime in our community
Im not saying rap is causing people to take these actions but it damn sure influences it
I dont get it how that can be denied

also this x50, expression isn’t always glorification, especially when it’s presented cautiously a la “the wire” or pac’s discography

We got great positive rappers like Jay Z, Kanye West, 2Pac, Drake, Nipsey and the likes

then we got the other unknowns who are dangerously impacting the community, those are the ones who need to be stopped.

    That's not the same tho

I was joking to point out the dumb “bold” take

  • This is one of the worst threads I’ve ever seen

  • Hi-C

This rhetoric is not only not bold or original, it’s just wrong and misguided

If you feel that way about rap, why even post on a rap forum?

You realize you're contributing to rap's popularity by posting on a rap forum, right?

That'd be like me complaining about GTA being regressive to society and responsible for mass shootings and car jackings...................on a video game forum.

you must be living in a white ass area if blacks around you are doing crime because of rap music

There are literally some kids out there who know nothing but rap culture. I’m not saying that listening to rap automatically leads to black youth wanting to do crime but it opens up that world to them. It’s very hard to just excuse rap music out of the black struggle conversation.

You have to remember that kids are very impressionable.
