You can get the ads on your kindles removed by just contacting them. They usually do it for free.

If they try to make you pay $20 say you're giving it to your niece or something.

Just follow the dialogue tree in the customer service stuff. Find Kindle. Find "special offers and ads for a screen saver on device" and click that you need more help.

They'll ask for your serial number. If they try to make a fuss, say the ads are inappropriate for you or your "niece" or whatever
