I didn’t like the weapons breaking mechanic tbh, i think it has something to do with your personality, if you’re a certain type of person you won’t enjoy it. I’m usually someone that likes to save useful or cool stuff for later instead of using it on something i could beat with low tier stuff. So if i got a really cool fire sword or something, i’m not going to use it if it’s breakable, i’ll just be waiting for the right time to use it, instead having to use worse weapons, dragging out the fights and just making combat feel like a chore sometimes. Other people might just use whatever they come across, which is i guess the intended way to tackle combat because the devs wanted people to try every weapon? In a game with this much freedom, you can’t expect everyone to play the intended way. Hopefully at least the weapons break slower in the sequel. Looking forward to BOTW 2

once you get the master sword i feel like it ceases to be a problem tbh. first like 4-6 hours of gameplay it can be annoying but after that the only time i’m pissed about a weapon breaking is one i’m using to get gems
Finally I can make plans to kill myself after I finish this game
had a friend that 100%’d it
i was at his place when he got the last korok seed, he was showing me a map with all of them marked and i’m thinking damn you spent all this time just to carry a few extra weapons

Once you master beating the f*** out of lynels like its light work, weapons will no longer be an issue...ever

Haven’t gotten that far yet tbh

I can beat Lynels, deflecting their attacks is easy but shields break and weapons do no damage if you’re using weak ones

Yeah; you definitely need some time playing until you get some good weapons and good armor before going hard on Lynels.
Eventually, all you will need to do is memorise Lynels moves and will perfect killing them.
They'll always drop really strong weapons/shields/bows, and you will never need anything else after that.

I agree. I like the mechanic for the simple fact that it still makes combat more dynamic than most open world games.
You literally have to get good with every single weapon type in order to truly master the combat. I know damn well if it was just a standard game where weapons don’t break, I’d literally never use spears or two handed weapons and stick to one handed s***.
The game does a great way of always making sure you have weapons but managing them in a way that makes it so that you can’t just run through enemies with one type of weapon.
I learned little tricks after using each type. Like for example, I always spin attack with two handed weapons but then cancel the spin attack so that it doesn’t do the strike at the end to save durability. I literally never would have thought to do that if the game didn’t force you to use the different type of weapons
Weapons breaking is such a small complaint
There’s weapons around every corner, just fill out your inventory boxes and you’ll always have like 15 weapons on u

It’s something that takes getting used to but I appreciate the hell out of it. When your weapon’s about to break so you throw it at your enemy’s face and then pick up the one they drop to finish them off

If you find a specific badass one it's gone in 5 minutes unless you stash it and never use it.
It's a dumb mechanic they should get rid of tbh. Or at least give you the option to repair the item

i like that idea

I like the idea of repairing, say weapons in the overworld are at 50% durability but you can combine them to increase the durability up to 100%. Also works so you don’t have 5 of the same weapon in your inventory

Plus it'll add to the idea of finding and crafting weapons in the wild. Goes with the theme
Better dungeons and them being actually themed. Skyward Sword perfected the dungeons in terms of creativity, Just in general they need to make big ass dungeons that take hours to do like they intended. There needs to be a big forest too where you just get lost in it

Maybe the dungeons but I don't think we'll get the forest. It seems they're more concerned with taking some of the map and building another aerial zone above it then adding to the base.
I just got used to never getting attached to weapons lol
Making them repairable and upgradeable would be really cool though
i hope there’s less NPCs
that first hour or two on the plateau was peak gaming
There were barely any NPC’s as it is lol

I think they should have blacksmiths and instead of getting flints and luminous stones from those breakable rocks you find they should drop ore that you can use to repair / upgrade a weapon and depending on the rarity of said ore the better / stronger the weapon becomes
I think they should let u use chuchu jelly to give it elemental boosts too

This is insane, and i think these wont be the only new mechanics, they probably patented only what they showed, which is relatively nothing.
Also, at tga they again confirmed its coming out in 2022
