There are a lot more producers than there are rappers imo

It’s on the rapper to pick good beats and put them on a tape in a way that sounds good

also true, its a lot harder for producers to get on in general although its hard either way

Idk about that, anyone can record a song but not anyone can make a beat. I think the barrier to entry is higher for production. But if we’re talking successful artist only the upper echelon of producers are household names

You’d Be Surprised What A Better Rapper Can Do To A Beat.

Why isn’t it because the flows they used on the song is the same thus not producing another hit.

You are over playing what a beat can do for a song

what do you mean "a beat can do for a song" lmao nigga the song doesnt exist without the beat

and i dont know what that first sentence is supposed to even mean lmao

how much credit if they produced and rapped

pierre gets 100% credit but is a fairly unknown artist compared to his famous rapper friends. especially uzi & carti

Most rappers go thru hundreds of beats and pick the best ones to put on a project

Producers gotta work harder i guess but it’s still gonna be the rappers vision at the end of the day

  • Jun 14, 2021

Because the rapper is the brand. Theres a million producers out there who make great beats. But it takes a certain combination of technical ability, charisma, and mass appeal to really build a rapper's brand to the point where they blow up. They're also the ones who face the relentless criticism and invasion of privacy.

Basically: You get what you sign up for.

Producers should always get fairly paid tho

Alright gimme a post 2017 song that was hot just because of the beat, and the rapper has no hit ever since.

And just so you no a song doesn’t exit without the rapper either

Imagine a producer going up to a radio station with his laptop and just playing a beat to promote his upcoming instrumental album. One hand wash the other guys. Few people riding around listening to beat tapes just like few people would listen to an acapella album.

I think rappers deserve just as much of the cred. Having a good beat isn't all it takes to make something hot. Just look at Pierre as an example

  • Jun 14, 2021

the rapper is what makes the song successful.

I mean...it's all voluntary at the end of the day.

If a producer wants to be credited as a collab artist or the main artist, they could push for that like Khaled and Metro.

But what rappers can bring to a beat in terms of hooks, adlibs, lyrics, personality, flows, etc. enhances the beat and helps it become a hit versus a full fledged instrumental.

  • Jun 14, 2021

as a producer who knows a lot of other producers, we dont really care about the fame. yeah, clout helps, but so does beat quality and personal connections. For rappers tho, clout is the #1 criteria, fame is the goal and means to more money.

we get paid bc we have good beats and know good rappers. tbh it doesnt have a lot to do w fame. hitboy, 9th wonder, art dealer, brentrambo, and like all these other great producers probably never get recognized on the street. They definitely still get paid, live comfortably, and enjoy most of the perks of a rapper's lifestyle minus the fame.

rappers tho, they need fame. you cant have a successful rap career unless u have people who know u and recognize u

so in short, rappers get all the credit bc producers rlly dont care a lot abt it but rappers do

  • Jun 14, 2021

Sounwave, 40 and Boi 1da deserve more praise tbh

  • Jun 14, 2021

Because the rapper is the face of it all.
