I didn't like the way Ryan Gosling, that woman and her kid were acting. They were just so wooden and boring Didn't make sense to me that she would fall for him. They barely spoke and then it was suddenly scenes of them sitting in silence driving together and smiling like awkward first graders who have a crush on each other
Still have about 30 mins of the movie left but that first half was not it. Movie picks up around when Christina Hendricks shows up
I know what you mean but it's sort of a different type of acting style (throwback to Bresson) where the characters are almost like just avatars to be plot devices and whether they really emote doesn't matter. It's also not necessarily that she fell for him but that she was magnetized to him with a primal survival urge. Letting those long pregnant pauses smolder was genius.

I was bored as s*** during those scenes and I was thinking "Only way I'll like this movie is if they go all out with action and violence towards the end" and so far they have
But their bond forming so quickly just doesn't make sense to me because he's like the complete opposite of charismatic. She's a single mom with a son she has to protect and he comes across as such a weirdo. The conversations feel like watching people with social disorders interact

Oh s***, this the same guy who did The Neon Demon I found that movie super weird too. Gorgeous movie but it's kinda difficult to sit through
Kavinsky - Nightcall tho Recognized it because Gambino sampled it on Royalty but the original is such a great song
