I love this episode of Actors on Actors between Carey and Margot and their love for actors-turned-director movies. Just the way this trend has leveled the playing field and my takeaway is that it seems to me much better to work with an actor-director than a director who hasn't been in the shoes of an actor before. I honestly didn't realize how much I'm drawn to these types of movies. I feel like actor-director movies put more emphasis on the acting, and the message of the movie, less on cinematography, special effects, flashbacks, cutaway shots and all of that irrirating showoff nonsense. Actor-director movies are definitely more basic, more character-driven and what they choose to leave out tells alot about what actors actually hate about filmmaking. At least to me. Cinema plunged in to the twilight of darkness once again. Through the capitalistic hellscape of franchise pictures that bank on risks. However, one man out of the Nevada desert. He's the man without a name. Like that America song. That man questions the notion of reality. The reality is the perspective of government, prisons, war, genetic engineering, transhumanism, and the universe. He's the next Baudrillard. He's the next Bunuel. With little money and no risks involved. It's all about creative control and shows how the independent cinema prosper. He don't belong in any movements or a group of people. This time, he made a new feature film next year. Cinema will be saved again. It doesn't need a Letterboxd user make a funny review. It doesn't need film twitter a***yze the s*** out of it. His name is Neil Breen and his new film will be called "Cade: the Tortured Crossing." The sequel to 2019's Twisted Pair.
Anyway, here's the trailer.

i too often forget how incredible the lord of the rings trilogy really is.
kinda feels like the pinnacle of the grandeur and scale that movies are capable of.
also the best use of extended cuts ever lol
like how did they convince their studio to let them film all 3 at once especially with how much was on location. like the first teaser for the fellowship announced the release dates for all 3 movies
a high that blockbusters still have yet to reach man

Can't believe Denis at this point in his career didn't have the clout to pull off the same thing with Dune. Jackson had a fraction of the clout when he secured that deal.

I know Weinstein asked them to do all three books in one movie after Peter Jackson had already been working on it for 2 years, so he just told them I’m killing the project and they were like ok fine never mind
But I know what you mean. 0% chance any studio would give lotr a chance today

It’s the peak of cinema I’d say
I don't like what Disney has done to Star Wars. Yeah the nerds love these cookie cutter TV shows pandering to them, but the romantics among us who fell in love with the prequels and the direction George Lucas wanted to take it don't get anything. We exist, where is our piece of the pie?
