    He’s an abysmal singer

extremely limited vocal range, bland voice, zero personality, and no style either

He’s maybe the worst singer I’ve ever heard professionally make music

These comments are so full of spite 😒 gtfo somewhere

To me, even he has gotten worse too because some years back when I caught talk 2 u live, I was impressed

Drake wouldn't even attempt s*** like this

  • Aug 11, 2023

he has a nice tone and the potential to be a great singer but i don’t think he’s interested. his music will do major numbers anyway even when he sounds like ass so he probably feels like, why bother?

  • Aug 11, 2023

He can vibe but his vocal range is actually trash

i wouldn’t say he’s a “good” singer but he doesn’t have to be he’s able to convey emotion well. i was listening to nets last night and he wasn’t singing well but i felt him

So he got ghost vocalists too?

i think majid coached him through that whole thing

    He's nice within his range

Most impressive vocal performance he had is Jungle I think

    Karoake for me

Age, smoking, and drinking ruined his voice but then again I think he gave up on becoming a better singer years ago.

    Abel could never

Drake has his moments where he’s passible live. Bria’s Interlude at HAW I thought he was good (posted that a page or two back)

Jesus, I expected him to sound way better than this live.

Yeah I guess I was OD in saying drake was better than these guys

But to me, from what EYE have seen, they’re all more or less the same when you get them live, and without the advantages of their on production team

That’s why they sound so bad on places like SNL and stuff. Like you really have to catch these guys at award shows singing to see how good / bad they are lowkey

Drake, PND, Tory, Bryson, Brent, IMO are all in the same tier of singer which is fine

  • Donebefore

Even when his voice wasn't shot it was very much "get the job done" honestly, nothing to write home about but good enough to pop off a melody. When his singing songs don't have high tier songwriting, production, a sticky hook, etc they're totally bottom of the barrel drake songs.

    Like which ones?

Not even disagreeing, just interested in seeing what the bottom of the barrell drake songs that you’re referring to

    He created SZA's whole shtick

She can't sing either but it's easy to sing along to (when she's not mumbling)

Don't give a flying f*** if he can "objectively" sing

Sounds great and enjoyable to me

he's definitely gotten better at singing live. he couldn't even do the Forever hook in 2010-2012 without getting winded.

He has a moment during 2014 HAW when he’s doing Bria’s interlude where he even admits to it and he says something along the lines of

“Yeah I can sing these songs now, I couldn’t do them before”

There was material improvement in his singing for sure

Sans Drake, the names you mention all mostly occupy vocal ranges that the average person can’t hit. It’s their style of singing and enunciation that sounds less singy. This is cause the entire industry moved towards giving the audience relatability…but the image of it

Those singers are examples of the industry’s encouragement of deceptive relatability. The mfs who could actually sing had to assimilate to Drake’s immediate influence following Take Care since Drake was authentically relatable in his voice. Imo tho lol

This was very poignant. Well said.

Tbh I don’t think anyone ‘cares’ tbh lol like the concept of studio singers has always been a thing and it’s not like you’re going to Drake to hear some Sam Cooke type s***

People these days like songs that they can sing along too without sounding liking a dying cat. That's why amazing singers are not popping anymore and why the biggest R&B acts are Summer Walker, SZA, Mariah the scientist, and Brent Faiyaz. It's in pop music too. It's more beneficial to have a unique nonchalant voice rather than a great conventional singing voice these days. No one benefited more from that than Drake

facts I been saying drake got the best voice to sing along to

  • Aug 11, 2023

I wouldn’t say he can outright sing, but he has a very appealing tone and can hold a tune/melody very well

facts I been saying drake got the best voice to sing along to

100%. That combined with his ability to write extremely catchy melodies and that explains why he’s been the biggest artist in the world for over a decade now
