He's a great writer that can carry his songs. That's how I look at it. He has a great tone too as others have said ITT. People like hearing him perform his vocals instead of just being a writer

The vocals on HVNM were mid as hell and the production, vibes, and Jimmy Cooks are what redeem the album.

Drake definitely put more effort into his vocals back in his prime era though.
