Personally yes, games like Mario Kart Double Dash, NBA Street V2, etc never get old but I can see why someone would give it an ehhh
Definitely
Even games that have flaws or have some outdated features can still be flawless / classics
Like Super Mario 64. Classic game. But the controls and camera are def dated.
A game can be timeless and not be the best in that series of genre
Again Super Mario 64. The games that follow it, are all better in every way. But 64 could still be your favorite and that’s fine. But objectively, it’s been bested 4 times
ngl I played it once that Master Chief collection came out, and I gotta say... I disagree completely. It's dated pretty poorly actually.

i dont think games will ever be timeless, the same way music will never be timeless.
there will never be any game that will be timeless simply because every generation grows up in a different environment. For example I don't expect kids to play half life 2 and love it as much as I did it because of the graphics and how bad the engine is compared to newer engines. That doesn't mean I cant appreciate half life 2 and say its timeless for our generation because its what we grew up on. Every generation has games that are timeless for what they grew up on respectively
but that doesn't mean games can't be classics. and i think being considered a classic is something that is much more fair and important to a game than being "timeless"
hmm I kinda agree. Like no matter how much praise I hear for the Beatles I just can't enjoy most of their stuff that much. It's just from a different time. I wouldn't say that about movies though. Plenty of very old movies are super enjoyable even for a first time modern audience. Sound of Music, Tweleve Angry Men, Paths of Glory etc. etc.

Oh I mean ya what I was talking about was more like games as a story telling medium. If you looking at them more as traditional games that's basically just like something to play then ya maybe. Someone else said Tetris which I agree is timeless if we just talking about a 'game' in the traditional sense.
San Andreas?
Duck hunt b****
Sonic 2 too

i think it applys to movies to a certain extent.
some of my favourite movies are old movies but i dont enjoy them the same way i enjoy newly produced movies.
but yah i think movies are an exception
hey
if board games are still alive and well
video games can be timeless too
Tetris is about as perfect and timeless a game ever made.
Exact game that came to my mind as well, people itt mentioning games that are less than 10 year old, Tetris is something like 35+ years old and the main game still hold up.
Halo 2 + 3 are timeless classics , campaigns/multiplayer still just as fun and replayable as they were 15+ years ago
