He made waves in hip-hop, working with damn near everybody. His growth from the negative fallout of his debut album is insane, I can’t think of another rapper who improved as much as he did and how quickly he did it. He constantly took risks, most notably his underrated horrorcore tape Delusional Thomas. His production skills were top notch, I think most people would agree he was in the upper percentile of talent. This is morbid, but when an artist dies tragically, their reputation usually goes up dramatically.

With all that said and how much his music has helped out sooo many people and his continued popularity and respect, can we say that he’s now a legend, up there with the best, like Nas, Big L, Biggie, etc.?

People who’ve known me from KTT1 know I’ve always been a giant fan of Mac, but I just wanted to put that out there because I’m making this post without positive bias towards him.

A legend sure, up with the best no

Not enough lore/cultural impact for that kind of thing

Definitely one of the most talented of all time

With the best? Na. Def one of the greatest artist developments in hip hop tho. True artist and being a legend is def a green light for his name

I don't want to say that he's up there with THE best but that's partly because of the tragedy that took place. I have 0 doubt that as amazing of a body of work that he left behind that the best would have been yet to come. RIP, legend for sure

  • Mac is a true legend amazing person and amazing artist

Seemed like a great guy, extremely talented and insane work ethic. Like it's actually crazy to think about just how many songs he made in such a short span of time. But I'm not ranking him highly as a rapper if we're talking all time

  • Apr 8, 2023

He’s not up there with the best, but I guarantee he would have been if he wasn’t taken before his time.
That being said, he’s absolutely a legend

He was very good, best white Rapper since Em and much more consistent but he’s another rapper that would never have gotten the clout he got if he wouldn’t have passed that being said Small Worlds is a masterpiece

  • He had more classics on the way, I just know it
