Honestly he’s the epitome of a rapper who has all the intangibles just doesn’t have a wild enough story from his teenage years to really be anything more than what he is. He don’t have bothing exciting to rap about. That has struck so many rappers the past 15 years and thats one thing we should credit Drake for…he had a pretty boring upbringing but somehow never got caught up in not having s*** to rap about lol. Need a @Brave breakdown on why

    And

He's up there w/your Drake's, Kendrick's, whoever you wanna name when it comes to rapping. His biggest issue has been that he's been typecast into a rapper who shouldn't be taken as seriously, and has been fighting that ever since.

That and the fact that IMO he suffers from a lack of guidance to flesh out some of his ideas.

What guys like Cole, Drake, and Kendrick have over him is not talent, it's their teams. In house executive producers and pseudo A&R's that help create their sound, and help propel their talents.

He’s a motivational rapper who speaks on life from his perspective, what’s important to focus on and the success that comes with hardwork. That’s what he focuses on outside of his raps about women or being rich/famous. He’s also phenomenal at making rap love songs, DSP proved that.

Saying he’s got nothing to rap about when he has at least 3 albums full of substance is crazy to me. Maybe it’s just not for you. There’s a reason he’s one of the only rappers in this generation with 3 Nas features lmfao

    Don't get me started

He's had an exceptional career that's went farther than what most would have projected in 2009

But skating past beefs with Dot was a missed chance to really make s*** shake

Even now, he's on interviews with Cthagod copping pleas about why he ain't get in the ring.

Pisses me off because the talent is obvious. Unbiasedly, at his best, there's no real material difference between Sean/Cole/Drake when it comes to purely rapping. Very similar honestly.

Bro i Had a Ti$A in high school, copped the 2010 xxl freshman when it was on stands and remember the night Detroit came out and bumping it with my niggas at the time lol FFV3 may be a classic to me

You don’t have to do this with me lol

But imo Thats just an objective a***ysis of why Sean has the brand/perception he has. Cordae will end up suffering from the same thing. Its an unfortunate side effect for many post Kanye type rappers lol

Yeah thats whats so weird about that interview. Its like hes tryna warm it back up without jumping out there to do it

And sadly i feel like kendrick gonna still demolish him just for playing like that. The screenshots is what will have done it lol

    I completely agree w/you

I think more than anything though, is presentation, packaging, conditioning.

There's nothing really that Cole or Drake rap about that Sean doesn't. They all rap about the same things and from that perspective, have similar career arcs.

But this s*** is about conditioning and selling the story, that's just as important if not more important than the source material itself and in that regard, Sean and his team have more or less dropped the ball

Big Sean is far too good to get demolished

I am actually hoping Kendrick tries it

But I just wasn't a fan of him asking "is this real, is this kendrick s*** real" when the leaked element s*** explicitly fired your s*** up

Cole and Drake absolutely talk about more than Sean does and even moreso when it was like SFG/FNL/Finally Famous 3

Off the top of my head Sean never made a song like See World or Say Whats Real in 2009-2010

We dont even have to include Kendrick in this convo lol

    I love Sean but yeah

Yeah its not like Drake has an amazing background story but he knew how to sell it and how market himself. Also Drake drops music every year and Cole like every 2 years. Sean just wasn't consistent enough. He didn't play his cards right after the hype he had with DSP
