Detroit rappers just aren’t good
Only Detroit music I like is slum village
These niggas has style. Big Sean is just Walmart quality stuff. Like not even Amazon
It was a tie truthfully
Sean performance being able to match up with him was pretty impressive though
Kendrick was being too artsy talking bs nobody understands which sometimes I like but that verse sounded like him being complex for the sake of being complex. Sean had a clear concise message that also had bars which is why I give him the edge.
I can’t stand him on Who I Am. Great song until his verse. When he starts doing the nananana pamper part I just can’t believe this would come from a grown man.
And Drake’s lyrics are authentically representing the ugly cringey part of us we’ve had to mature past - or sadly haven’t. He did this with intelligently worded observations on behavior in with a cool swagger to the language and rapping, so that really brought a voice to being immature and cringey and entitled. And you can’t deny the production prime Drake is rapping on either
Big Sean doesn’t represent s*** lmao but that’s also to his blissful unawareness of the fact that being a ‘rap goat’ comes with fully dedicating your life to representing something bigger than yourself to the potential harm of everything around you. J Cole understood this and bowed out. Big Sean misunderstands this and feels unfairly misjudged. But lmao bucko, make no mistake…
We’ve got Big Sean’s f***ing number. He’s fluff. Not in the deceptively profound Drake way. And that’s okay.
Yep, committing to a rap persona vs just being kind of a normal guy

There are plenty of non complex artist, if Kendrick is “complex for the sake of being complex” what is complex and acceptable to you?

Trash is a lil harsh. It’s just the weakest verse in the song his verse isn’t so bad you have to skip it to enjoy the song

!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvlEcrWCO2M!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b3eiryKSE8sHe's up there w/your Drake's, Kendrick's, whoever you wanna name when it comes to rapping. His biggest issue has been that he's been typecast into a rapper who shouldn't be taken as seriously, and has been fighting that ever since.
That and the fact that IMO he suffers from a lack of guidance to flesh out some of his ideas.
What guys like Cole, Drake, and Kendrick have over him is not talent, it's their teams. In house executive producers and pseudo A&R's that help create their sound, and help propel their talents.
