I mean, he kind of spent his entire career removing himself from any relevance when it came to being considered a greatest of all time musician/artist.

He set his own “competition” as The Beatles or MJ et al. and thought that generating more sales or hits would be enough to make him equally legendary.

He did this by attempting to appeal primarily to people who only listen to hip hop superficially. And thus these people became his primary fan base, d***riding no matter what the music sounded like as long as it was popular and the numbers were there.

He let all of that get to his head, became a d-bag, and started bragging while dissing real artists who focused on the craft rather than popularity. It was inevitable that a real artist would eventually destroy him.
