Maybe Young Wild & Free is a better pick but f*** it
nah this is it
Man released a whole classic mixtape off this as well though. Definitely the story tied with the single made it bigger than either would have ever been separately but was a true unique and real rap moment where the music and lifestyle were a pure 1 for 1 of eachother
f*** this nigga and his music
The end of the Nicki Minaj pop era. She got everybody off her back.
A comeback for Banks and Juelz even though he had Back to the Crib. Project X helped turn the song into a hit too
I’ve held this long time conspiracy that SoundCloud hard promo’d the song on release through recommended and that inflated the numbers a huge deal for it. I think it’s a great song but not the best song he even released that day. I get why it was as popular as it was and absolutely is the cornerstone of his career but I think it’s done more damage in the long run because he is looking for that next XO and every song he tries it with feels like a sad pandering effort (P2 especially). Was the lightning in a bottle moment when Bad and Boujee was popping, he had built a sizable fanbase off his 2015-16 work, and his fans and young people alike were looking for the next young star out of that scene.
I actually remember people hating his verse on Bad And Boujee off the jump
It's a grower didn't elevate him though
Idk who else would relate but I wasn't a big SZA fan before this song... I thought she's just the token R&B girl for TDE then she was on the Rihanna album on some different s*** and then this song dropped and my jaw dropped... Her using her voice more and tapping into that more personal writing style made me a fan. It wasn't career elevating in the popularity sense (that happened with Love Galore) but it is quality wise.
Solidified his return to hip-hop with one of the genre's best singles ever
I thought it was all over after the Taylor s***. Then this dropped, I couldn't even believe this was Ye at first. comeback single of the decade 100%
Another gear was hit after this
!https://youtu.be/2IH8tNQAzSsSuch a classic. That era
Thinking about you was probably that single for Frank. Took him to another level
Loved this song. Wish he had continued making Music like this. Crazy he dropped this type of sound and changed his entire style. I couldnt get it into it
I feel like that song did something for Mac:
!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_BYIEXzdnlYI feel like for Mac all of his biggest singles in terms of effect weren't actually his highest charting ones. Donald Trump, Diablo, and Dang come to mind.
Rae Sremmurd Black Beatles also objectively
No Type was huge and some singles after that were big (Powerglide) but Black Beatles was just a insane career peak, couldnt go anywhere w/o hearing that
also probably Trap Queen for Fetty Wap even though he had other big singles around the same time (Again, 679)
for Juice Wrld Lucid Dreams was probably his biggest in terms of career elevating singles, that was like a huge sleeper hit. i always thought All Girls Are The Same would be the one to pop him off but Lucid Dreams was wild for his career
also how has no one said Magnolia for Carti
