If it’s personal opinion then adding a number makes no sense. Just explain why it’s good.

meh i'm putting numbers so i remember what i thought of a project. i don't give a s*** if you can interpret it

A number is just a quick way to summarize how you feel

If saying something is bad mid or good is the same thing as rating on a 1/10 scale then rating on a 1/10 is objectively better because it provides much more of a specific understanding of how you feel because it has 10 different options instead of 3

Numbers are only a problem if you let them define your opinions

I give chance a 8/10 on spinning that dud album this way.

  • The Big Day was bad but the way people are treating Chance is disgusting. That man made Acid Rap and had that immense feature on Justin Bieber's song Confident, show some respect instead of attacking him for everything he says or does

  • Apr 12, 2022

I couldn’t imagine defending Chance the Rapper’s debut album. He’s rappin about peanut butter jelly and featuring c***pop stars like Shawn Mendes. yall can keep that bullshit.

  • Apr 12, 2022

Chance seriously needs to build a bridge and get the f*** over people not liking TBD

It's getting tiresome & sad at this point

    Describe the difference between an album that’s a 4 and a 5?

Then tell me what’s the difference with calling both mid?

Literally no context to either format. Just a lazy way of explaining why you like it hate something.

He's absolutely right on the first part. Trying to put number ratings on everything f***s with your mind and is one of the reasons why I'd throw Fantano in the gulag

it would be interesting if he just did his reviews without scores

would never happen tho because the score generates all the discussion unfortunately

If you need to see a number to remember what you thought about an album then you’re an idiot.

You can enjoy it, feel it, understand it and then assign a number to it, there's nothing wrong with it. A number is just a reflection of one's enjoyment of a piece of art - it's universally understandable and I don't feel it downplays the art at all, it's just a way of communicating the enjoyment in a simpler way. Review that only consists of a number is still infinitely less interesting than a written/spoken review with a rating as a bonus anyways.

That being said, it's good that Chance stands behind his art. I would be worried if a Fantano review and a bunch of overexaggerating KTT users scared him out of doing it tbh.

Simple. A 5 is an average album hence it being in the middle of the scale. A 4 is just below average bc it’s just under the middle of the scale 5 which is average.

Saying two albums are mid you can’t tell a difference between which is better..

    One is clearly better

    1. You don’t listen to way more music than me lol

    2. That doesn’t matter. No one is gonna come and test you at the end of the year.

Listening to music isn’t some standardized test

using only numbers to discuss music gotta be the most blatant form of anti-intellectualism ive ever seen

you niggas make fun of dudes on here who type out paragraphs about why they like an artist or an album so much, but feel no shame in encapsulating all of your feelings and thoughts into a number that means something different for everyone

This makes no sense. Saying something is average and below average based on your personal preference makes no sense. If your average is baked into your listening then a number doesn’t matter. Which is my point.

    Saying average
    5

Or mid is the same lazy way to represent what you think about the music

To be fair though, it wasn’t just a bad album. That’s downplaying how f***ing bad of an album it was.

It’s one of the worst albums I’ve heard in years.
