People like to quantify their qualitative feelings. It’s any easy way to categorize things.

Album was bloated and filled with mediocre to straight up bad tracks, you’d think you’d wanna impress on your first album instead of be completely outshined by the previous three mixtapes.

The album is honest and may be a very accurate reflection of where he was at but that isn’t enough to make the music good or timeless, not all moments in life make for experiences where great art can come from it.

Your second sentence is a great way to describe an album.

Saying it’s a 5 doesn’t tell me what you just said.

Which is what I think his point is.

Yeah for sure, but most written and other types of reviews append a number after qualitative statements explaining why they feel that way. I think it’s a huge straw man to say that people just spout numbers at his songs and that’s it. People only do that to troll or parrot a popular opinion without having to engage with the music. I think he’s just hurt at the numbers instead of listening to the words around them

you realise you can give an opinion and assign a number right? music reviewers aren't posting a one character article

putting it in a category impacts nothing about my enjoyment of the music. saying something is good is as lazy as saying it's a 7. if it's expounding on your opinion that's the problem then that's not the issue

I never said it was an issue. I’m just saying assigning only a number is a lazy and a twitterish way of a***yzing music.

If you expound on it then it doesn’t matter what number or label you add because I know exactly what you like and don’t like.

Funniest thing I've seen on this forum was when someone was making their song by song rating of Jesus is King and half the songs were 10s and the other half were -10s so it came out to a zero
