I’m looking thru their campaigns and its artists, albums, singles, specific streams, and even NPR tiny desks

    Everything is fake

a lot of artists do this it's just scandalous cus artists in op are selling the illusion of authencity

  • There is a difference between going viral and your career popping off

Going viral on your own still happens and is still possible, tho it's never been as common as you might think

But your entire thing popping off at once out of nowhere is almost always being pushed by something

Im sayin nothing that u hear about happens organically be it in music news etc

    yea
shouldn't be legal to make fake fanpages tho

What do you think the commonalities are between the indie sleaze revival and hyperpop that make them prime for this kind of fake digital marketing? Other than the fact that they are both dogshit

Yeah I was wondering perhaps naively if the artists themselves know about this

I mean they probably aren't completely left in the dark about it if it's this widespread

But I doubt it's something they are handling themselves

And if it's something that literally everyone else is doing it would be foolish for them to put their foot down or something

corporate move differently they know (or at least they think) nobody cares about industry s*** and itd look worse if they concealed it

The average person is barely touching 2% of the internet, if that

There are many sites for many things that many people don't know - if it's not on the very clear surface web such as the social media, then you either have to come across it by accident (which you can easily make your site hard to find) or you have to have direct knowledge about it existing which usually comes from someone else to you

The corporatizing of the internet into just 10 sites for the average person has made most of the internet "concealed" unless youre a huge web surfer or have direct access

  • Tbf to them I wouldnt have knew about that Geese album without them and that s*** is tough

  • They turned the internet into the damn mall

Can’t wait for this s*** to die next

It's a really interesting philosophical question because it's like, should we be mad if money is being spent on what many of us would agree is good music?
