What’s disgusting is, you can get banned and s*** for telling one of these bots it needs to not exist anymore, and you can’t even block them all, they are EVERYWHERE
It's a really interesting philosophical question because it's like, should we be mad if money is being spent on what many of us would agree is good music?
I’m also happy those artists are getting more attention too. I wish them nothing but success
i will say that i've been listening to jane remover since she released her first ep (i was at the discord listening party). i heard lucy bedroque during his lostrushi era. underscores when she was part of six impala.
this whole time i thought they blew up organically
it's prob both but having a machine behind you def helps. now for others that seemingly came out of no where im just like wtf man
people with some buzz get picked up by money so you just cant tell anything to them
when you know how this s*** works you just stop believing a whole swathe of things like popularity or organic growth being related to quality of music or things that you like being good because you found them or you found yourself in the artist, your brain just stops processing that information because its futile
its all theater and capitalist culture is a waste of space so few years down the line you end up ordering fela kuti box sets and playing random raga tapes off youtube and going to conservatories for performances because you just dont care anymore to entertain this music as an outward digital hobby s***

Idc about the marketing per say, but it’s like why are you pretending to have a genuine music conversation with me when this clearly has a manufactured angle, just takes away the community behind online music discourse when you can so easily shift the conversation via an online gorilla marketing street team

Always felt off to me
The average person is barely touching 2% of the internet, if that
There are many sites for many things that many people don't know - if it's not on the very clear surface web such as the social media, then you either have to come across it by accident (which you can easily make your site hard to find) or you have to have direct knowledge about it existing which usually comes from someone else to you
The corporatizing of the internet into just 10 sites for the average person has made most of the internet "concealed" unless youre a huge web surfer or have direct access
thats how a lot of s*** moves in america, see every time they declassify cia documents and if that stays up in anyones consciousness for longer than a week
I can’t trust any artist or band coming out of New York anymore. Especially the Brooklyn scene

You just gotta trust your ear that’s always been what this music s*** is
F*** reviews, reactors, stan echo chambers, sales, streams
Is it heat or not, that skill will never die as long as I’m alive

dude is on snl with his solo career attached to an indie rock group and people wanna talk about zomg he made it!!
its just the fact that people genuinely believe this that upsets me. theyll believe elfs are real before believing theres vested interest in music promotion based on money trying to recreate organic events

Even tho I fw their music.

If the music is good, I feel like we shouldn't care all that much. The way the game is now, its hard for regular artists to just get traction in a linear way. Pretty sure labels before streaming had similar forms of marketing
But I do feel like there's concerns on the music discourse. Like if someone is getting paid and is engaging in music convos on ktt, the whole convo lacks authenticity

There’s the Brooklyn scene, the “Brooklyn scene”, and then the bands that know the guys who own Babys All Right & Night Club 101. Sometimes the third group gets Thielbucks 🤑
Cameron Winter never played Trans Pecos 😒 if you never played a grubby set at Trans Pecos you can’t be trusted
Listening to the interview. They straight up say they have a phone bot farm to blast a song into TikTok audio to give the impression it’s trending
They joke about having a dedicated Verizon rep because they have so many active phone lines wtf
Someone should make something blatantly terrible and pay them to do this I think it would be funny
