I feel you lmao I just had nowhere else to go with my love for cb, imma text the groupchat with this?
back in my mid teens when cherry bomb came out my best friend at the time that i considered a brother who since then has passed away bought cherry bomb cd and we would BLAST keep the O's in his car and the subs in the trunk would basically explode
it was hilarious everytime keep the O's came on we basically burnt through that cd to the point where i wasnt able to play anymore tbh
so many key memories linked to cherry bomb and come a couple years off my fascination with yeezus , this is tylers yeezus. the mixing, the experimentation. it was a moment in time I wish tyler had the balls to revert to some crazy ignorant s*** like this again.
i hope you read that
I feel like it says something to still love it this much 8 years later after all the amazing s*** he’s put out since. Let us have our yearly Cherry bomb is underappreciated thread !
^ read that @sfsorrow post above
Sometimes I feel like people who like Cherry Bomb don’t give Flower Boy enough love though, like he really kept a lot of great elements of Cherry Bomb within Flower Boy imo
It’s cause they feel different talking about Cherry Bomb tbh that’s really what it is. I love both but FB is undeniably one of his best albums period. There’s no debating about it at all
cherry bomb has always been my favorite tyler album
always
and i dont even listen to it anymore, i dont have to
its burned into my mind its not something i can just forget

I find cherry bomb is way more interesting to listen to. I barely go back to FB anymore tbh

Seeing people make ranks with flower boy outside the top 4

smh
I'll admit I don't go back to Flower Boy too much. I also don't go back to Cherry Bomb either, not since IGOR perfected that sound and gave it a funkier, slightly melancholy twist. It's hard to think that album would exist without the experimentation here. Plus Smuckers is a classic Tyler rap cut, easily the best beat on the album
I remember when this came out, I was known by my friends as the Tyler stan I’d be saying “he’s a genius, just watch” etc etc. I loved it when it first came out but I wasn’t sitting there hyping it to them cause I knew it was weird and I knew they wouldn’t fw it.
Me and all my friends were riding around, and my friend who was driving said let’s put on this Tyler album, he puts it on shuffle a sin. And the first song that plays is the title track, lmao I was so embarrassed, I didn’t even fw that song at that point, it got the “turn this s*** off”
now it’s one of my fav Tyler songs partly because of this memory, I love that s***

idk if smuckers is the best beat on cb

We can’t just like it? Lmao

Yall be downplaying flower boy tho
Like i swear every cb stan does it which makes the praise of the album annoying

Flower Boy is my second fav Tyler album ever though, it’s incredible and I love his songwriting and sound on it sm. Idk what that even has to do with Cherry Bomb though, I never noticed this trend honestly

I love cb, definitely loved it at the time of release
Idk where i rank it bc it changes but the album is like a strong 8 to light 9 to me but most of the people on here who have it as their #1 are pretentious about it and act like flower boy is way worse, drives me crazy, i think cb is more adventurous production wise but flower boy is way better song writing wise

As long as you can see that his s*** from CB on is miles better than the trilogy you good, it’s the ones who be arguing goblin is his best album that puzzle me
We grew up on those albums but he leveled up in every way

I never really noticed that but that’s crazy. I agree it’s def better songwriting, I think it’s his best ever still. You could def make an argument it’s his best ‘sound’ too, instrumentation on the entire album is just insane. Such a gorgeous lush golden sound and he basically perfected it in just one album

B****** isn’t even in the discussion for me because I have huge sentimental value with it and is the most nostalgic but musically it isn’t that so I just tuck it away
Goblin is clearly his worst
Then WOLF holds it own in terms of like world building, i think the hooks on the album were strong, and sound design is good but in terms of like the production as a whole its so limited compared to the following albums imo but he did such a good job creating a sound its hard to really hear unless you really listen for it.
CB has some peak production, introduced flex tyler which I love, and some good energy, some beautiful songs but I think definitely lacks in the writing and arrangement department
IGOR also does well in production, as well as writing and arrangement, but I think lacks in subject matter sometimes but I get why because he was doing a concept.
Call Me I think has tylers best rapping, a lot of good production, perfected flex tyler and was motivational, and world building but of course doesnt have like those big production songs
I think Flower Boy is the best mix of everything. Great production even if not as adventurous as the albums its between, great writing in terms of arrangement and hooks and catchiness, great rapping, great subject matter, consistent sound that has range etc. but I do think certain albums do specific things better, like wolf is more fun, cb/igor have better production, call me has better rapping, but flower boy is the best blend
i like tyler's music, but we have to cool it with "classic" talk about our favorite artists
Grow up

B****** is at the very least an iconic / classic mixtape. Can't really take that from him, he's in the conversation of A Kid Named Cudi, So Far Gone, Kush and OJ with that one

This + Flower Boy is literally a classic album
