What a coincidence that someone near death feels like the world is basically ending parallel to his own mortality
“and the return of Donald Trump”
chomsky saying on the books multiple times that trump is the worst criminal in history and the GOP is the most dangerous organization in all of modern history should immediately disqualify his political takes from being viewed as serious or meaningful by anyone

The GOP kinda is the most dangerous political organization tho tbh
Not the "worst" ideologically or whatever, but as in a threat to human survival? I would say he's completely right

eeeehhhh i disagree with that heavily and i feel like im surprised to hear you say that. the GOP is symbolic of a dangerous ideology and set of beliefs but ultimately they're more symbolic. the danger the GOP does is no more accelerated than any other political party in the US as a whole, even if their social beliefs are "worse" and their rhetoric is more abysmal. most of this is just rhetorical, and in reality it does not create any more of an acceleration towards societal depreciation than other american contemporaries. the politicians are barely the real issue when for as rhetorically dangerous as they may be, they're all just strings being pulled by outside entities. Like for example, take the israeli lobby on the GOP (which is arguably stronger than on the DNC) - if you were looking at AIPAC vs GOP, the GOP is just a middle tool used by AIPAC, it's not representative of the origination or even where that policy is coming from, so it'd feel weird to say the GOP is anything other than a tool of dangerous organizations, but in that case you're just playing a game of trying to quantify how many bad organizations donate to the GOP vs the DNC, which feels arbitrary.

I mean ofc the GOP itself it's not the origin and even in that example AIPAC isn't either, but they are the agents at the end of the day.
But like with climate change, the GOP is singlehandedly doing the most to oppose fighting that, even if there are lobbies funding them to encourage that, that's really the main reason I would say that's true about the GOP

I don't really think this is the case though. Like for sure, they're more vocal about it and more openly agree with dangerous rhetoric or say stupid things (i.e. Trump). And, sure, there are people who are democrats who are far better on the environment, esp. on a local level, but is this reflected in their upper echelons and top-level administrations? I don't know about that.
