This is now the most important film of the year if they really keep that release date.

Y'all gonna go see this even if theaters implement a mandatory $10 food charge in addition to the ticket?

Only plan to see this in imax. I’m going even if it hypothetically means I have to pay £30 for one ticket

Paying for overpriced food is where I draw the line. Rather that $10 go the In Nolan We Trust fund.

No way this keeps its July release lol. I can see maybe a push to September-October when they can guarantee majority of theaters are open in America but I doubt most states even lift lockdown by july.

This movie has a production budget north of $200M, they‘ll never get the money back if they do release this as planned when theatres can only operate with limited capacity.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking. It would be a shame if this "bombed" in terms of it's profits. And I can't see how it wouldn't if it released in July tbh.

I'd still go to see it tho

Gearing up to be a crazy year in cinema, this and Dune

Any chance Warner does a roadshow for this instead? Set up makeshift, huge outdoor screens and essentially make it a drive-in theater experience?

I’d pay much more than a normal ticket. It can be a “preview” type deal, make a good amount of money, and get the chatter for a full release later this year.

I think the plan is that almost every auditorium in theaters will be showing this movie since itll be the only one out (Mulan later) and they can do that as a way to limit the number of people per auditorium to comply with social distancing

    What makes this film important.

Sure it's going to be great but it's just another Nolan film.

    What makes this film important.

    A. the fact that you're calling this "just another Nolan film" and not calling Dune "just another sci-fi film" shows your pretty clear biases. They're both not accurate descriptions.

    B. Theater chains and companies, and other movie studios (and movie going audiences), are not looking at Dune to help determine the state of the cinematic experience for the rest of the foreseeable future.
