Missed out on 70mm because my theater f***ed up somehow. We had to watch it in regular imax and didn’t even get to see the Dune 3 sneak peek. They just played the new trailer and got straight to The Odyssey 😭😭😭.

Movie was fire though. Would love to see Nolan do a horror now just based off the Circe pig/Cyclops scenes.

Saw a 70mm of this a couple years ago here and wondering if it’s the same. Tempted to do this again but I’ve yet to ever watch my 4K of 2001

Honestly, that print I saw was in a bit rough shape too so hoping it’s different. Great experience nonetheless

films shown in dual laser are in 4K resolution, while films shown on IMAX 70mm are said to be around 16K (though this is an approximation since there is no set resolution for film prints)

interesting. my screening was not at a conventional theater, so I didn't expect a lot of trailers and only got the Dune Official trailer. My showing tonight is at an AMC, so I was anticipating the usual trailer run. Your show only had Dune? hmmm hopefully there is a full run. I hate when people show up during the movie.

when you see Imax 70mm thrown around break it into two parts. You have Imax which denotes the aspect ratio of the projection. 1.90:1 or 1.43:1. The vast majority of Imax screens you will see are in 1.90. You should also see if the Imax is Laser or not. Non-Laser Imax (Xenon) is old tech and its dimmer than Laser (CoLa). Your theater is most definitely Laser.

70mm denotes the projection on film. 70mm can be "normal" which projects on a normal size screen. It is very high quality and has that film look. Imax 70mm uses a much larger frame to display in the 1.43 aspect ratio. It is massive and engulfing.
