Aight, first off, I’m really happy to see this movie become a success. There are many reasons for that, but especially bc it’s a f*** you to all those grifting right-wing idiots who prayed on its downfall. Yeah, there are people of color in it. Deal with it, and f*** you.

As for the movie itself, it was pretty good, but short of amazing. I found myself craving more when it came to the visuals. I get that this is how Nolan’s films typically look, and that a lot of people enjoy it, but I kind of wish he would experiment with a wider color pallette.

Some of the editing also threw me off, especially when it kept cutting between characters during conversations. It’s not something I usually notice, but for some reason, I did here. I also found myself wishing Nolan would cast lesser-known actors in some of these roles (I couldn’t see Charlize as anyone other than Charlize).

Still, it’s a movie worth seeing, with a great ost, good performances, and some rlly memorable scenes. I know people like to talk about the Cyclops scene (and for good reason) but to me, the Circe scene was the most surprising. It was legitimately disturbing, and I’d never seen Nolan pull off anything like that before, which was great.

The visuals were def a let down Villeneuve managed to make a desert planet look more interesting than Nolan’s aegean sea

  • Nolan did it again.

So many scenes were depicted excellently, but to name a few — the Cyclops scene; the men in the Trojan horse; Odysseus and his crew out at sea after the cow murder all stick out especially.

However, the best scene for me by far was Odysseus’ monologue in the penultimate scene between Odysseus and Penelope. It’s so visceral.

My spoiler tags don’t seem to be working so SPOILERS BELOW

    ||The reveal that the images of Athena that pervade and haunt his thoughts are her donning the face of the priestess they killed. so f***ing good.
You also get to see the full scene that the film repeatedly teases you with of Odysseus sat on the bench finally hit you like a tonne of bricks that he may have won the war and immortalised his name; it is those actions and consequences that have led to the sea people and the eventual fall of the Bronze Age. ||

    Really great movies

i keep holding them off cuz im hoping that they screen 70mm prints for it lol

  • speaking of prints, just saw inception in 35mm. the colors were genuinely strikingly beautiful and the scratches on the print ended up giving more character to the film. and holy s***, the sound on this was insane. like blow your ears out loud lmao

Nah they have a following but 70mm places never really know what to screen like that or getting a print . Wish we could vote . I know some people at music box I may recommend some to them but matter of it can sell well
