I have no clue what theater you're referring to but I strongly doubt that is the case for the flagship 70mm IMAX theaters (the ones they put on their announcement graphic)

You realize a lot of other 70mm theaters aren’t this way correct

Imagine hating on someone getting to see Sir Nolan’s next magnum opus in 70mm at 2pm on a Thursday with his 5 closest friends, couldn’t be me

I don't think there's anything wrong with preordering them for personal use, I definitely think there's something wrong with paying resale prices on Ebay
