93 Till Infinity feels very forgotten about and has been considered a classic for awhile.
I consider it a perfect rap album front to back, everything flows on it
that rakim cover got me weak rn
Not mad at this but this is part of why albums be getting forgotten
The new gen actually judges albums on their covers more and prioritizes “aesthetic” over everything, so if a rap album doesn’t have a minimalist aesthetic album art it doesn’t have as good a chance at living on in the new space
Fr people always talk about AEOM & MATW but Thug Life was an essential part of Pac’s career and a turning point in his sound and image. Also just has a couple of his best joints ever
Still I Rise has some of his best records too his Outlawz group album that was stuck in label shelf hell forever but thanfully it got released post in 99 even tho it was suppose come out years prior
Thug Life is better to me overall than AEOM but AEOM of course has higher highs and iconic status
Tbh i havent noticed ktt s***ting on The Documentary like that (moreso just Game himself) but this s*** gotta be a certified classic. Will forever defend his album run because its waaaay better than most people from his era
Nah there was a few threads of niggas arguing that its not a classic and that the songs were weak outside the 50 ones - it happened during Covid and last year
Lotta niggas are OD dumb on here when something is talked about that isnt 90s Eastcoast or 2010s south

Baby Don’t Cry (Keep Ya Head Up 2) used to play on the radio constantly where I’m from, was the first Pac song along with changes that I knew around 2000
It’s weird to me that the song doesn’t seem like it was ever that big and definitely isn’t remembered now
Was it just my local station spamming this song
Word.
Master P and No Limit Records had the rap game ON LOCK in 1997 and 1998.
it being a 3peat makes it even crazier for me and they all had major hits and were huge
AND they released one year after another - the literal blueprint of 2010s south
That isnt well known in general outside of hardcore and people that actually do music
Very influencial tho regarless
Album as a whole might feel a but outdated, but the title track is pretty much timeless
Yup, Face is one of my top 3 favorite rappers ever. I personally think "The Last of a Dying Breed" is better than The Fix. That album don't get talked about nearly enough.
But yeah, "The Untouchable" is my favorite Scarface album too. The production on that album is amazing.
Mary Jane >>>>>>>
FAXX, And LDB is a deep cut
And yeah The Fix is lower for me too, something about the mixing (and other early 2000s Rap) im not a fan of overall although i dont hate. I think its the mix mash of still hardware but mixed with early software that give a lot of rap albums drom 2000 to like 2003 (although not all) a very distinct mix sound
Kingdom Come from Jay (although being from 2006) has a similar weird mixing of that era too but worst and one of the reason i dont like most of KC. If I had to guess, he was prob still using the same equipment of that weird time period of mixing since he was gone for like 3 years solo.
But anyways, my favs:
Untouchable > Diary > My Homies 1 > The World is Yours > The Fix
HM to Dying Breed
One of the most consistent discogs ever. And Scar also floats back n forth of my top 10 to top 20 depending on day.
Renaissance is such a good album, Dilla as a producer really understood complex melodies/instrumentation
Deltron, Moment of Truth & Jeru i def agree
Rap albums for Rappers type ish that had massive impact in that way as well
Moment was always my fav too over Gangstars more talked about classic Hard to Earn
Stuntin Like My Daddy is a classic song regardless
A lot of the b sides got a Houston influence

a lot of west coasts more "non stereotype" (to the general mainstream) rap albums and artists are left in the past too much outside of hiphop heads and muscians
such as LA's Pharcyde or Bayarea's Del/Deltron 3030, Hieroglyphics & them etc. but they had a major impact in a whole different way which was more so towards sound/style design and artist inspo
that part, history and group of both bay n LA got done wrong overall in modern times
i lowkey wanna send Chicken N Beer in here but i think Ludacris might actually not have a classic album
I would say word of mouf is

Pharcyde are legends too me, their first 2 albums are great.
Sad that bruh was swagless. Had potential.
