Exactly how I feel. Gorgeous looking film, story wise it needs more bite.

its very pretty and obviously shot like malick. the time period and how the world changes is very compelling. edgerton and casey affleck are the two guys competing for these roles. all the actors had good performances.
the best scene in the film is the interaction between joel and kerry, where they are being filmed with close ups having an intimate conversation and then for the camera to switch and show a wide shot where you can see how far away they are standing from each other
overall though as others have said itt the story certainly lacks bite there is not much substance in the narrative itself it doesnt really say anything at all not that a story needs to say something but it really just feels like quite a void. i havent read the book but someone described it as the "instagrammification" of Denis Johnson
basically every interaction joel has with his daughter is the same interaction. "what do you have there? a rock?" "what do you have there? an egg?" and so on. this makes it feel sort of flat
theres also some smaller netflix woke details
watchable and pretty but not satiating. 5.8/10

This started to fizzle out for me halfway once Arn died and he stopped logging. I really enjoyed those scenes out there on "the cut"
Decent movie though and the acting was great all around.
Very pretty movie, with rlly good performances, and profound themes. I watched it with my dad, and when the credits started to roll I looked to the side and he was crying
