I mean the influence is obvious, idk how u could deny it’s not influenced by it an people aren’t saying it in a complimentary way most the time

Influence is one thing and that shouldn't be much of a surprise since Pharrell was basically Tyler's role model. Outside of the influence and DJ Drama being on it, the similarities between all three projects are superficial.

This thread is just KTT tryna discredit Tyler and Call Me If You Get Lost again cause they got some weirdo hate boner for him and the album.

i mean pharrell has been problematic so i understand that but like dude there r so many problematic artists out there that it's just not even worth it i'm just gonna listen to the music anyways bcuz if i dropped everything for every problematic artist i'd have almost nothing to listen to

The thing is he’s not just problematic - he is a bootlicker and great deceiver of the masses. The highest of crimes. He’s basically Jay Z level but just more lowkey about it

I mean yeah I agree, it doesn’t discredit the album and IMM does have differences

But I think being fair there are similarities to IMM era on CMIYGL, the rapping on a lot of songs like Sir B, Lemonhead, Lumberjack etc is tyler talking his s*** which you can tell is inspired by the way Pharrell was rapping that era. Even some of the beats like Lemonhead I feel like takes inspo from s*** P was doing on like Keep It Playa. And s*** like Blessed and the talking at the start of Massa and Runitup is for sure inspired by the talking on IMM Mixtape and the drama tags of course. So I definitely see what people are getting at

But yeah I agree, IMM does different things than Call Me and it doesn’t discredit either project at all or make them the same

Also s*** like Corso, Juggernaut, Massa is classic tyler

Pharrell is one of my favorite musicians but he does have a llc Twitter/roc nation brunch Twitter type vibe to him

idk about that take but I just find it funny how he went from all this talk about chords and bridges and blah blah into this sample heavy album

    I strongly disagree

Everything from the way he was talking, to the s*** he was rapping about I found to be super inspiring and a peak into the lifestyle he lives

Blessed, Massa (which was a more introspective moment), Lumberjack, Sir B, first 2 Corso verses, Hot Wind Blows, Safari etc were super luxury just in his own way but he was talking his s*** and really conveying the s*** he’s on

Even Lemonhead and Juggernaut which were more so bangers had some heavy talk on them

my friend convinced me that this is more of a mixtape than an album. Not to diminish the project ofc, just something that helps connects this further to the in my mind prequel tape. Then I guess Tyler’s next project will really be his in my mind

    Wow peoples opinions change

Sometimes I swear you have a peanut where your brain is supposed to be

He hasn’t talked s*** on samples in like 5+ years and it was always stupid when he did it and he’s even taken it back

I don’t think that next part is true, his next project will probably be something else but yeah it was inspired by the mixtape era i mean he was pretty upfront about that

Tyler wears his influences too heavily

Exactly, there is a fine line between taking influence and copying.

For instance, Pharrell biggest influences were Slick Rick and Steely Dan. You can hear the influence when you listening to Pharrell rap and produce. However it isn’t all in your face how Tyler does with Pharrell.

Nah, he was biting Pharrell for sure.

"Some say it's biting but I say it's enlightening. Besides, Dr. Kanye West is one of the brightest."
