The thing is he’s not just problematic - he is a bootlicker and great deceiver of the masses. The highest of crimes. He’s basically Jay Z level but just more lowkey about it

bootlicker literally falls under problematic tho lol

but to each their own can't dictate someone elses listening habits or who they speak abt in relation to music ig

"Some say it's biting but I say it's enlightening. Besides, Dr. Kanye West is one of the brightest."

Let’s keep those lines in its proper context

He’s grown into his own style
He has P influence and probably always will but people who say that he’s just biting don’t understand

Not with CMIYGL. It even shows in the interviews he did, he had that same arrogance Skateboard P had back then.

    I’m talking about the production
Only places in the album I can see this argument is hook to Corso
Maybe SWEET even tho as a whole the instrumental is more sophisticated than any beat Pharrell has ever made
Juggernaut sounds like modern Pharrell with the click noises and 808 noises
And definitely the beginning of Manifesto (I will say that beat is a straight up bite)

  • Nov 29, 2021

cmiygl was a good but there’s a lot of lows that ruin the flow of the album once the allure of newness fades

  • Nov 29, 2021

The more hated a Tyler album is the more iconic/admired it ends up being in the long run.
    Example: IGOR

  • Nov 29, 2021

This album flowed better than any of Tyler’s other albums for sure.

Not to say it isn’t as impactful or influential as any beat that Pharrell has made. But as far as arrangement/chords/instrumentation it is way more impressive. From the perspective of a musician it would be way easier to remake any Pharrell beat than it would be to remake SWEET. Especially if you count SWEET/ITYWTD as a whole song with all the little transitions and everything.

Yeah I don’t agree I think there are some crazy ass beats on Fly Or Die and Seeing Sounds that’d be harder to come up with especially since Sweet was very heavily homage.

Plus Pharrell/Neptune’s appeal is minimalism anyways

That’s kinda different tho cause it’s a whole band making those two albums. Tyler is just one dude. I’m thinking of like Pharrell just on his laptop or keyboard workstations going up against Tyler. Tyler would probably make the more impressive beat but that’s just me.
