The Campea Show with Fernandez happened. For those who didn’t watch but want the gist of it, here’s some notes:

    • Campea and Fernandez used to have a good relationship but it went downhill during a Collider townhall meeting and the last time they were in a room together, Kristian Harloff had to jump in the middle of them to stop them from fighting. They haven’t been in a room since, until today.
    • Fernandez text Campea the day the announcement went out to thank him for creating Movie Talk, Heroes etc.
    • John text Fernandez when he did a stream talking about the cancellations and told him it was a train-wreck.
    • Fernandez says letting people go on the day is common practice in business, he doesn’t have to give notice. He regrets not giving the fans warning as he didn’t think of them and their feelings when he made the decision.
    • Campea warned Fernandez multiple times over changes he was making which Fernandez regretfully dismissed. Fernandez thinks all his changes is what brought upon the downfall of Collider Video.
    • Campea thinks Fernandez should’ve allowed all the shows to have one final farewell episode for the fans but Fernandez didn’t as he doesn’t like goodbyes and thought it was easier just to rip the bandaid off which Campea found selfish. Fernandez says doing farewell episodes could bring forth a false positive but agrees he was being selfish and the fans deserved better.
    • Jack Hind isn’t the number two at Collider Video but has a bigger role in revenue. Jack has been disciplined. Jack has reached out to many members of former staff to apologise and wanted to do a public apology which Fernandez didn’t allow him to do.
    • Fernandez wants Collider Video to stand on its own. He says Campea created the ESPN of movie news and Harloff the Howard Stern of movies - Fernandez wants his own stamp. He says he’s very passionate about innovative technology which is why he created the Deepfake Saga. He’s looking to make long-form documentaries on filmmakers along with doing celebrity interviews.
    • Campea thinks the new direction is like a revolving door. The ideas or the funny videos will bring people in but if there’s no meat, no community to keep people there which will result in them and Collider Video constantly trying to bring them back.
    • Fernandez won’t give Campea the Movie Talk name as he might have future plans for that title.

In the interview Fernandez did come across sincere but you can see he’s torn between thinking about it all from a business and from a respectable side. Watching it, I still don’t understand how this dude is supposedly a successful business man.

As for Jack, he said he’s very good at his job so he deserves a second chance. He says Jack brings a lot to Collider and does great work, he’s too valuable to simply let go.

No one's too valuable to let go when they're like that tbh. Dude deserves to have his ass kicked to the curb
