Well I hope I could help you. Twitter especially is toxic. Real life parties are different (although you should avoid campus LARP politics).

Yeah Twitter has great recs for books but the community is so rigid and over-the-top

Marx writes about the different types of socialists in his day in the Manifesto:

Book aged like wine, not a dated word in there

    they dead now 😤

Yup, but you have non-Marxist democratic socialists these days, as well as Dengists/market socialists who see China as the endgoal.

But it's funny seeing those irrelevant tendencies Marx talks about.

I mean there is a reason we talk about communism all these years later and not freaking Georgism or mutualism.

It makes more sense when you realize they are all teenagers.

If u have any questions just ask in the socialism thread

I see where u r coming from but would advise u to keep a more open mind on ML, and not to think ML = USSR politics but more just a framework of how to deal with political issues

Furthermore ML is always modified. Maybe you can read Cockshotts Towards A New Socialism, which mixes ML with De Leon, syndicalism; Trotskyism, direct democracy and cybernetics and information technology. It has valuable ideas especially about economic planning.

    I love Lenin lol

And that's my point. I'm not principally AGAINST Marxism-Leninism. I'm against the idea of replicating a USSR-styled revolution in 2021, mostly because I don't think it would be materially possible to do given the surveillance state

I advocate for Democratic Confederalism not because "muh evil red fash tankies" but because like, I do not believe that we can withstand another war ecologically, and the reactionary element in the US is so strong that the country would likely collapse if a vanguard revolution were attempted, followed by an uprising of fascism

"I'm against the idea of replicating a USSR-styled revolution in 2021,"

I got something to sell u it's called protracted peoples war

Would this really be possible after the US perfecting the style for 20 years they won’t hold back on their own

I mean they lost against the Taliban, the Nexals, and Philippines are still holding out and making gains . Guerrilla warfare is the key, the only problem is that its insanely intensive and most communists are just weirdo nerds.

I’d say the circumstances are totally different in regards to just how far away we are from the level of popularity needed to establish bases of control

Yeah 100% agree with that but thats why we should start now, the point is to plant the seeds now otherwise we'll never get anywhere we want to, and it won't be a long time anyway expecting any communist revolution, the Bolsheviks took 15 years and the Chinese's 30 years. We shouldn't expect anything in 4 years or maybe even in our life times but we should start building now so hopefully someone else can finish off what we started, or maybe luckily finish what we started.

  • I never understood the 'selfishness' argument against communism. If you're selfish, you want to be a communist because you're being compensated for the full value of your labor, and not having the majority of it sucked upwards by the capitalist intermediary.

The difference between communist selfishness and capitalist selfishness is that the capitalist is willing to coerce, extort, or enslave other people into producing capital for them; the communist only wants the all of the fruits of their own labor.
