That seems to me more along the lines of individualization and enlightened self-interest though, no? When I think of "selfish", I think of individualism.

The entire point of Marxism is that it fulfills the promises of the Enlightenment that liberalism couldn't.

Communism is about freeing the individual through temporary collectivism.

But if humans are social in their nature, freeing the individual doesn't, to my knowledge, mean "temporary" collectivism. It means realizing a higher form of the concept of being an individual, in that you are a unique part that is entirely dependent on a larger natural structure and social structure for survival.

Yeah and the problem is these morons cannot be reasoned with and are numerous, and will always be numerous, if not the majority. Capitalism at its worst rewards sociopathy, which is why 66% of billionaires are sociopaths lol. Problem is, they won't go away, and they have no conscience, so they know no limits. They're literally sociopaths.

Calling them sociopaths instead of those who benefit from an imbalanced and exploitative economic system is what is playing into your defeatism though. Which is why there will have to be violence enacted to effectively strip billionaires of their power, but the main proposition for revolution by communists is not that the working class has pure souls that need to be heard, unless youre a posturing larper.

But they're literally sociopaths. Like Les Wexner, Henry Kissinger, Donald Trump, Jeffrey Epstein, etc, are 100% sociopathic lol

And while the working class don't have pure souls, much of the working class would and will die to protect the bourgeoisie and the system they uphold. The US is the pinnacle example of this

That is my point! Whether they're homeless or own multiple mansions, they are innately still pedophiles! And there have been such people in history for as long as we have recorded history

The bigger point being that, there are innately bad people who exist. Not most people, but a small chunk who definitely are, who will stop at nothing to dominate over the human population and planet

Communism doesnt need everyone to be a good human, just as much as capitalism doesnt need everyone to be a bad human

Maybe I'm not understanding your point. Are you saying individualism and collectivism are at polar opposites? Are you saying individualism doesn't mesh with socialist thinking? Or that individualism innately means selfishness? Because none of those are necessarily true in a way.

What's the solution for dealing with the large portion of reactionaries in society then?

Individualism to a limited extent meshes with socialist thinking (I hate Stirner lol), and I would say individualism and collectivism are fundamentally opposed to each other

And so capitalism is the answer to supressing/incarcerating these behaviors on both ends of the economic spectrum?

You're implying that communism wouldn't account for reprehensible behaviors such as pedophilia

Both communism and capitalism are outdated. Humanity’s survival depends on a futuristic system.

As opposed to capitalism, which encourages you to cheat the system, invent useless forms of labor, and start wars to expand markets. Sounds like real honest work that good people do!

Not communism tbh, but Marxism-Leninism is probably outdated.

The people have to want socialism in order to make it work. Let the individualists wither away with their wretched system. We can't replicate the Red Terror or the Cultural Revolution, both failed and were disastrous.

  • Oct 4, 2021

    marxism-leninsim isn't outdated either lol

difference is, that selfishness isn’t built into communism itself like it is in capitalism

in communism, selfishness is a flaw
in capitalism, selfishness is an asset
