You can’t deny communism has he awful as well! That is all I am arguing here!

There is functionally no ideology historically which in practice has dodged the societal elements of things like war, destruction, etc; the differentiation instead has come from who has simply outsourced their destructive elements the most. Historical communist identified governments has ranged for everything from the USSR to Cuba to Cambodia to Iraq. The same could be said for capitalism, countries like Bhutan are capitalist despite being wholly different than the US. Trying to weave together ideological and historical perspectives doesn’t make much sense. Criticizing specific regimes and their direct consequences, sure, but focusing on ideology which in practice/praxis is functionally different makes no sense. Like the nazis were functionally capitalist but you aren’t gonna say “oh yeah every offense in Canada (another capitalist country) is thus comparable)”

Not nearly as awful as capitalism

Historically yes capitalism has been worse but in the very short time communism existed it has been horrific. You have to admit.

But you CAN mention that communist leadership has largely been aggressive and evil and for some reason, you all just ignore that. Why can’t you just admit that the revolutionary nature of communism has been harmful toward society? And realistically, what do you want to happen? I’m asking you this on an individual level. As a communist, what do you hope happens in the near future?

I don’t identify as a communist I just agree w a lot of Marxist theory. No one here wholly denies misteps from communist-identified nations. People just hate comparisons to capitalist ones because the scrutiny is misplaced due to capitalist countries being the norm.

Just as communists can’t handle the criticisms to communism. It goes both ways

The difference is that scrutiny placed toward communist nations is a double standard of rejecting norms that exist in pre-existing societies while simultaneously denying differences. Like trying to pin things like war and civilian death as unique to communist counties is ridiculous, as if that’s never happened in standardized capitalist society

  • Jun 11, 2023

The police are abusive in Cuba, no one likes that. They don’t like that in America they don’t like that in Cuba. Vs the police usually = vs the government and in Cuba it is quite easy to see a rich government and think they are evil

I never did that though, I know capitalism has been equally as awful historically but in modern times you cannot compare the two, I’m sorry that is just facts

Not at all. Think about the state of feudal China and feudal Russia. Places of unseen inequality, famine, disease, lack of infrastructure.

Following the revolution, the fact that a yet-unseen and unrefined political system was able to bring free healthcare, education, infrastructure, economic, and political autonomy to working class people as quickly as it did has done nothing short of impress me

There’s a lot to learn and a lot to handle when a system that is more considerate and collectively minded is put in place, and there’s a lot of lessons that we need to experience, but history doesn’t happen in a day

Liberal democracy was fraught with violence in its infancy. The Articles of Confederation, the French Revolution, etc

But how about you take reviews from the people actually living there instead of your ideals? What good is all of that if the people are miserable? What are your honest responses to this? I’m honestly curious

We’re running in circles, you say “but the capitalists” as if the communists aren’t doing awful things themselves. I’m here to argue both are bad and communism sucks, everyone in communist countries hates it there, idk what you guys wants to prove
