got confirmed for a hedge fund swe internship today. first onsite first offer. always works that way with me for some reason lol, rejections from companies a couldn't care less about, accepted by who i want
hopefully this means faang full time next year
we talking js, 2s, citadel, DES , etc
srs tho, grats man!
Random, but would anyone be down for a daily review of algorithms/data structures? Idk how we would we do it, but just tossing it out there.
Maybe a leetcode sesh somehow on the weekends
id be down
how would we do it

If you post it in this thread I'd be happy to chime in. Couldn't pay me enough to do any kind of leetcode stuff on a daily basis though
Anyone interested in compiler stuff should read this to blow your mind:

Not sure. Still thinking, but we could make a github org to hold all our thoughts and maybe make a programming-interview channel on the discord to talk about things
Hey man, don't get sad about it at all. I've failed a bunch of interviews. Now, you just have to reflect on what went wrong and how you can improve for next time.
To go over the fundamentals again, I would go through interviewcake and also HackerRank's youtube channel on data structures and algorithms
Thanks man I'm not really stressed about it tbh I already have another offer which I'm really happy with will focus on my job for now

Might be down for that now though

@texmaker @Smoofer @Yohji We could use this site to practice for interviews and stuff. This was just featured on HN
I made this room
binarysearch.io/room/356
Lmk if you guys want to do something this weekend or on Friday

They'll add other languages soon, I believe. Not sure when they'll support Java.
Are you comfortable with JavaScript or Python?
Great book, but incredibly dense. One of these days I'll get to reading it (maybe in its entirety)

Yea it's very foundational but for 90% of coding not rly necessary. Reading about sorting, binary search, binary/red and black trees, finding medians in linear time and hashing is probably a good idea. The number theory and cryptography sections are very complex but also useful just to know
Also graph theory is a must know but maybe skip flow networks that s*** is pretty crazy

yeah I guess javascript is fine
Tbh learning a language is a stepping stool towards a broader career
U wanna do modeling/software dev/work for Google learn c++ and/or java
U wanna do science s*** learn Matlab
U wanna b a data scientist learn R
U wanna do machine learning/data mining do python
U wanna make websites/ui's learn html/css/JavaScript
U wanna make mobile apps idk lmao
Ik there's more out there but this are essentially how each language breaks down into fields of work. Like u could feasibly make a software application in python but it will be very buggy most likely. C++ and java are nearly universally supported by different OS (the advantage of lower level programming languages).

Mobile would break down into Swift (for iOS), Kotlin (for Android), React Native/Flutter (for cross-platform)
hi guys im currently learning java right now but would like to learn python since ive seen many people mention it, what are some great FREE resources to become decent at it?
Dam multithreading is kinda cool
Class seems easy so far but I know imma be biting my tongue sooner than later

honestly i personally wouldnt learn a language just bc ppl are mentioning it itt
however python is a nice language imo
do u have any idea what type of software etc youd like to make ? or what youd wanna use ur programming language for? then itd be easier to recommend a programming language
i also think java/python both are very nice starting languages, after knowing java a bit better learning python will be easier for u :instead of learning 2 at the same time yk ?
