45% of Brazil's tests are coming back positive? Good God. Everyone was and is still terrified for India, but only 4% of their 2.7 million tests have come back positive.

I wish India would test way more, they have over 1 billion people there and they want to fully reopen next week

4% is very good so far but if you see the slowly increases every day in India then it's the worst idea to open up everything (it is already in some cities btw) but for Narendra Modi the economy is more important.

They definitely need to get more of their population tested if they want to reopen. The population density there is insane.

Apparently Bangladesh doctors have been getting great results mixing single dose Ivermectin with an antibiotic. I posted about Ivermectin a month ago and it works, but no one has come to a consensus on what the dosing should look like.

Oxford's vaccine is progressing well, 10,000 people will be inoculated over the next month, phase 3 expected to take 2 to 6 months to bring in results:

US government has already offered a billi for 300 million doses

Damn my lungs when I do a lot of moving start feeling weird. And I have a hard time breathing. But s*** during the quarentine I gained 20-30 pounds on top of being fat already so I think it’s that. I hope it’s not Covid

20-30 pounds? Sheesh yea it’s most likely that

Absolutely. I was in India once a few years ago and can safely say that everything is insane there. I even believe, if I'm honest, that this country don't make it good in long term, even with a strict lockdown. The whole country is too crowded and their economy is already suffering. If we're looking at the pure numbers, in the worst case they could make ours look ridiculous (I hope that won't happen).

The people there are so incredibly nice, unfortunately they can't change their situation.

The same with Bangladesh. There are so many clever people living in these countries, but unfortunately people often laughing at them.

There are currently 12 different vaccines already being tested on humans. This doesn't seem like a lot, but considering the capital involved in running a vaccine startup and the hurdles of phase 1 animal testing it's a testament to how incredibly important this battle has become. It's all hands on deck right now.

    Good news today:

75,000 recoveries, the highest for a single day yet

Severe/critical cases dropped by over 1,000 despite new cases climbing by the highest daily number yet. Severe/critical cases have not been this low this April 4

US cases dropped by 4000 from yesterday, the lowest Friday total since March 27

Lowest number of Friday deaths in the US since April 3

A new report in the New England Journal of Medicine shows that the coronavirus attacks the lining of blood vessels inside patients’ lungs, a key distinction making the virus far worse than the flu.

But what I’m confused is the asymptomatic part, like how come that doesn’t happen with the flu, cause if you get it you forsure know

It doesn't attack the lining of the lungs if it doesn't get to your lungs. The majority of mild cases never reach that point and remain in upper respiratory tract. These are the cases that seem like a bad cold. Asymptomatic cases are blocked by the body's T cells so inflammation never takes place.

When the body cannot get control of the virus before it proceeds down the upper respiratory tract, it reaches the lungs and can cause long term damage. We don't know how long because the pandemic is only a few months along at this point.

Believe it or not, about half of all seasonal flu infections are asymptomatic. The more strains you've been exposed to, the better chance your body has of fighting it off without making you suffer symptoms. Your immune system is a lot more active than you realize.
