Songwriting community that would typically be in la been runnin it up in Nashville for the last half decade,
I think the masses are tired of raps run as pop and looking for something new
Reminds me of the folk 2011ish era
just a new Avenue and sonic pallet for artists who make pop music to market themselves

this is the glass half full take that i appreciate too. the other side is gonna be some reallyyyyyyy bad attempts at fitting a square peg into a round country shaped hole lol
Country is popping because the industry is finished exploiting HIPHOP and got everything it could by fastracking its death. Now it’s decided to invest its commerciability elsewhere
It has nothing to do with some homegrown and newfound substance in country imo

agreed. do you think this could be a good thing for hip hop though? like from a quality standpoint

i think hiphop has been left in a very different condition compared to rock so drawing parallels is useless there
i'm interested to see where rap goes rn more than anything, i want to reserve my judgement

think you might be underestimating the impact of grassroots social media on the current country wave. lot of this stuff took the industry by surprised and undermined its power, its not all just propped up by the establishment

I definitely think there’s been great grassroots movements that motivate the influence it holds but there’s very much an industry shift imo
I think I underestimate the whole genre at times but I’ve never been a massive fan

you’re completely right but that happens every 5 years when pop decides they wanna focus on a genre specifically as trend
lots of bad songs that tried to chart that didn’t need trap drums/ill fitting lyrics cause of whatever’s trending
no mention of Joanne by Gaga interesting. she sparked the country movement once again in 2016. inspired lil nas x for old town road and on and on. I guess she will be treated like M.I.A and wont be seen as an innovator until years later.
Daddy Lessons came out before Joanne
this country movement didn’t start in 2011
the truth is that this country shift really has nothing to do with either of them
country one of the biggest genres in the country people trynna capitalize.
i think the top 2 are
hip hop
country
(obviously pop prolly number one but)
