Just beat Artorias and I think ER spoiled me since he was lowkey kinda easy and slow for me

Well yeah. DS1 bosses are decrepit old codgers compared to Elden Ring's.
Gonna start DS1 again now that I finished Elden Ring. Probably gonna completely restart since I only made it to the sewer area with the rats and I wasn't really f***ing with my build.
Just beat Black Dragon Kalameet really tough but fair fight, there's a real elegance to the slower combat in the earlier games
So far, DS2>DS1
respect brothermane. OG DS2 enjoyer here and it does a lot of things better than ds1.
Bed of Chaos is without a doubt, the worst boss I've ever fought in a FromSoft game
Not even a hard fight, just a straight unfun and exhausting experience all for a gimmick boss that dies in one hit. If his swings with massive hit boxes don't kill you then he's just gonna knock the floor out from under you. Then it's at least like a 2 minute run back to him and if you didn't find the secret bonfire (don't get me started on the bonfires in DS1) then it's at least an 8+ minute run back
Usually even with the frustrating bosses you can find something redeeming about the challenge or skill they require from you but this one is just straight up bad game design.

It’s crazy that a game filled with so many good decisions in design can also include the bed of chaos
DS1 truly is a rollercoaster
Finished DS1. It only took me 17 hours. Gwyn and the Four Kings took me two tries each.
Four Kings was cool but was def carried by their environment (or lack thereof), they would have been way easier if your depth perception wasn't all f***ed up.
Gwyn was kinda whatever. He was more aggressive than other bosses and caught me off guard the first time but his moveset was pretty basic and easy to learn.
I was gonna do the DLC but I didn't realize the game was gonna force you into NG+ right away. Kinda lame. I have too many problems with the game to wanna run it back and get whatever items needed to enter the DLC, especially in NG+.
Got all the boss weapons I wanted, finished the DLC, time to actually beat the game, feeling lowkey sad about it, it's been a ride
Starting 2 now, wasn't having a great weekend and this isn't helping lmao
Like the combat feels great but there's definitely something off about the whole thing, like there's something beautifully depressing about the aesthetics of DS1, but DS2 is more feel-bad and queasy
Again, not a bad game tho so far, just doesn't really make me happy in the way that DS1 does
Also the cutscene explanation stuff is not good, typical obscure FromSoft storytelling is way better, I don't like the 'You're gonna die over and over again!' vibe, the opening cutscene is gorgeous though

2 was my first FromSoft game so I loved playing it but looking back, it really is super different to their other games. Enemies stop respawning after you kill them enough, fast travel between bonfires and the areas feel so disjointed. Bloodborne the only other game I've played since then (I have DS Remastered, DS3 and Sekiro but I want to finish Bloodborne first) and the way the different areas intertwine and circle back to each other blew my mind
Everything about it just sticks out like a sore thumb, you can tell different people were behind developing it
Man DS1 is so replayable, I'm further in my second run as a sorceror than I am in DS2 lol
