I love the fact white people games are getting a general instead of here having updated title with game names.

Demon’s Souls
Dark Souls 2
Now what do I do with my life

Gotta suffer the wait for their next game with the rest of us
run bloodborne again
I was considering going for the Bloodborne plat ( I already have it in Elden Ring and Nightreign)
Or maybe Lies of P
Or maybe I dive into a completely different game type / series

lies of p is the closest thing to a fromsoft game out there, it's very good. i've heard the dlc is also good but i haven't played it. the nioh games are fun if you want something similar but with a more free flowing combat system and much simpler level design

I’m always surprised how slow DS1 feels going back to it, early bosses like taurus demon feel like they’re attacking at .5 speed. Fighting Centipede Demon in Nightreign with “modern” FS combat, it’s almost a completely different experience

yeah i like how slow it is
ngl i was gonna play bloodborne instead but man i cant get over how bad 30fps feels
and that doesn’t bother me usually it just looks so blurry on my tv too

PS4 emulation has come a long way
Easily worth the setup to get 60fps Bloodborne. Your pc doesn’t even have to be powerful, I’ve seen it running at a locked 60 on a 2080
14 years of Dark Souls today apparently !
Only played it for the first time last year but its become one of my favorite games ever and i love it very dearly !
Doing my first playthrough of DS1 currently, enjoying it a lot so far. Just beat the Taurus Demon.
I will admit, the difference in gameplay between this and Elden Ring is staggering lmao. I do enjoy it regardless.

Like actually. I don't mind slower/older games, it's just such a crazy difference haha. No jumping (ledges are killing me), movement is slow in general, it's way less snappy in general.
Man, I love the atmosphere a lot though and I find the minimalist story works much better with the kind of storytelling FromSoft are known for. The game has a kind of optimistic nihilism to it, as far as I can tell. The game literally tells you at the start go do something, might as well. The world sucks but you'll keep going, right?

I agree i love that optimistic nihilism think u brought up, i find dark souls 1 overrall somehow more light hearted than the other games and sometimes pretty funny
Rung the first bell today, that contract guy at the bottom of the ladder scared the s\*\*\* out of me lol. I killed Knight Lautrec after freeing him, he gave me really bad vibes. I tried going through the catacombs but those skeletons are a nightmare. Then I remembered what Andre told me and now I have the damn butterfly to beat. Worst boss yet, it's a waiting game with one nigh undodgeable attack.
Actually expected the game to be a bit easier oddly enough? When I was pissed off with Elden Ring, I remember people saying how easy it is to read enemies in DS1 and how playing DS1 after Elden Ring is almost like playing in slo-mo. While that is true - I am also very slow lmao. I'm trying to go through with a dagger build, a pretty awful choice I know but I wanna see it through. It was easier in Elden Ring once I realized spamming Reduvia AoW kills 90% of enemies but ranged attacks are hardly a thing in Dark Souls so I have to actually git gud. But I do have experience with that as well in ER so I'm working through it. I think my dagger has some bleed proc, I see it work splendidly on bosses actually, most so far at least.
I met Andre, Solaris and Onion Knight today, loved them all! Also that weird woman that upgraded my flasks.
The yawning at Firelink Shrine had me looking up if there was an NPC nearby lol.
Went back to the Asylum today as well, biggest mistake so far. I had something like 9 humanity and lost that because of the b\*\*\*\* f\*\*\*ing Stray Demon. That motherfucker has an AoE ranged attack I cannot dodge whatsoever. I just gave up and licked my wounds. F\*\*\* the Black Knight in that narrow corridor too. Two-shots me. I did kill John Dark Souls though, RIP my guy. I loved that it called back to his dialogue in the tutorial.
Also, Merry Christmas!
Got through the entirety of Blighttown just to reach a gate that said "Door does not open from this side".
Peak FromSoft experience.
Some more thoughts I wish to share. Yesterday was a movie.
Sen's Fortress - I f***ing hate this place. And I hate it even more today, having beaten it. Why? I learned there was a HIDDEN BONFIRE right before the Iron Golem!!!!!!!!!! SO YOU'RE TELLING ME I DIDN'T NEED TO BRACE THE ENTIRETY OF THE F\*\*\*ING SPINNING BLADE NIGHTMARE TRAP-RIDDEN SNAKE-ASS F\*\*\*ING FORTRESS JUST TO GET TO THAT BORING AS S\*\*\* BOSS!??!?!?!?!?
AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Oh, and apparently there's a f\*\*\*ing lift too. So there's two damn ways to avoid that nightmare and I found neither of them. I lost 11K+ souls several times and am not sure how long it will take for these wounds to heal. It's all good until I get yeeted off by one of those motherfucking platforming nightmares and lose everything.
This brings me to Iron Golem||. I'm playing a dagger build. Bandit's Knife +5\. Not as bad as I thought! 150+ hours of Elden Ring (maybe nearly 200 with the DLC) helps me hold up pretty well. I've learned to utilize dodge rolls much more effectively and even learned to parry moderately well. I had to for those ||snake motherfuckers.|| And none of it mattered ||for the Iron Golem. I literally had the worst possible weapon to fight it with. Now the boss itself is pretty easy. Attacks are very clearly telegraphed, I almost got it on my first try. Of course, I got yeeted off the motherfucking arena.
Should have called it the Yeet Fortress.
Ffs, the boss itself is piss easy but I had to whack at him for 10 minutes and keep kiting him just so I wouldn't accidentally get pushed out of the very tiny arena. Conceptually, I like this. A seemingly easy boss that could prove deadly because of the arena. Turns out my weapon was underleveled too because I honestly never found the Depths. Such an obscure location. I went back and got the +10 Ember now though. So I basically did a challenge run on this guy on accident.
This brings me to a larger issue I have with Dark Souls and I've had a discussion with a friend of mine who has told me how differently it approached bosses from Demon's Souls. Dark Souls bosses are honestly very mid. It's the exact same thing almost every battle - dodge roll into boss, memorize timings, whack at them until they are dead. They will have some weaknesses or immunities which will either make the boss a total nightmare slog or piss easy depending on the build. But the actual gameplay against them is pretty much the same. For how revered these games are for their bosses, I find them very repetitive. My favorite part of this game is anything but the bosses. The areas, tension of resource management, atmosphere, music, story, lore - all of this is what keeps me playing. Bosses? They are what they are. It's either big guy with big weapon or camera nightmare kaiju mfs. Almost no in between. I'm looking back on Elden Ring and understand why my friend told me they are sadly going heavy in the direction of boss rushes. These games are at their best when they are unconventional trollfests, messing with my sense of being in a game. Memorizing attack patterns just gets old at some point. It's a matter of fact, not something that thrills me. It's not the difficulty even. I just can't think of a single boss so far that has been memorable besides the Gargoyles||. We'll see how it goes. FWIW, Elden Ring fights were more varied overall so I'll give it that, plus you have more options to approach a boss with. Regardless, I wish we'd get more gimmicky bosses like [Elden Ring] ||the mage woman whose name started with R, Relanna? Very cinematic and unique boss. I'm tired of fighting the same two templates.
I'm a Metal Gear fan btw and the bosses in those games s*** over every single FromSoft boss I've played so far, facts. Hunting down the End for an entire evening is one of my favorite gaming memories.
