this was beautiful, so so well made
a few of the subplots in some parts were boring tho IMO
id rate it a 4/5 maybe a 4.5/5
so insanely well made and gives some background to hollywood and how it works, liked it alot!
looked so so beautiful, some crazy montages in here aswell, fincher just showing off tbh
Does it showcase good insight on what the writing process was?

yeah a big part of the movie is just showing how he wrote the movie, not really where the ideas came from or something but more like how the actual writing went

Nice. Really looking forward to this. Crazy his last film was 2014.
its kinda hilarious we are getting a full scale movie that is essentially an Orson Welles hitpiece that has been proven false in every single way
I love Fincher but he is no Orson Welles and its even more laughable in 2020 to be trying to discredit someone who got more talent in his pinkie than 99.9999% of directors in todays cinematic wastehole

Please don’t be that person that discredits amazing directors just because their work didn’t come out in the 40s and 50s

I’m not even like that because a lot of my favorite films have come from the 2000s and 2010s but it is just a fact that I found most of what has been coming from Hollywood the last 2-3 years to be among the worst s*** I’ve ever watched
It’s honestly sickening where the industry is at nowadays and the kind of hacks being hired to tell “stories”. None of these people are anywhere near Welles and the fact we get a film in 2020, one of the worst years for cinema ever, that tries to discredit him is just disgusting and honestly emblematic for how talentless Hollywood has become.
Do you think the average netflix viewer would enjoy this or mostly just people into film (I'm into this s*** but curious about whether my friend who doesn't care about film like that would like it)

avg netflix viewers wont like this at all
Thinking about seeing it this weekend. Where does this rank among Fincher films to you guys?
mank? more like mehnk
I'm watching and this is kinda boring.
Might like it more on a second watch though.
Going to re-watch Citizens Kane tonight and then this
Citizen Kane has aged so well. It’s insane how ahead of its time it feels compared to its contemporaries, even fellow classics released in the same era, or later on.

As someone who has never seen citizen Kane, will it be more rewarding watching after this or before this?

That’s not true tho, we just don’t really remember the garbage that was released in the 40’s 50’s etc. We only remember the classic. Just as ppl will look back to the 10’s in the 2050’s and think wow films were so much better back then.

I watched it just two weeks ago for the first time and I would say it helps watching before Mank to understand the parallels
