Honestly it’s great, really grew on me and I say this as someone who was beginning to tire out of the entire 80s aesthetic. My only knock on the album are the features: Tyler’s ”you gon sign this prenup” line will annoy me till I die & Wayne just sounds clumsy on that beat.
Otherwise, props to Abel on experimenting on delivery, concept and really putting out a well polished project.
Gasoline & Nikes are some of the boldest openers from A list artists in recent memory. When they both hit, it’s ethereal.

A really interesting comparison actually, the juxtaposition between Frank using the chipmunk high pitch effect and Abel opening with that super deep voice
I’ve said this plenty of times on here, but this is still kind of an underwhelming release for me despite being mostly positive about it.
This album in concept is really infectious and I think that is showcased in some of the more uptempo cuts on here like I Heard You’re Married Girl and Take My Breath. Even the more slower moments like Out of Time and Here We Go Again (sans Tyler’s verse) are great.
However, I just simply don’t think a few of the more “””experimental””” cuts on here pan out for me. Gasoline and songs similar to that never grew on me and I think this album feels really inconsequential after ISTE besides I Heard You’re Married Girl.
There’s enough good on here because it’s Abel, but I feel like maybe a bit more time working on this album along with a few more collaborators would have made this almost as good as his previous work.
Reunited me with his music...
Did not support his ass since the disaster that was BBTM
My dear melancholy was a sparkcof hope, did quite enjoy AH but not much
Dawn FM is incredible. Second half after Here We Go Again is not as powerful imo

Features were easily the worst part of the album. Weeknd can carry an album with no features so I hope he don’t use any on the next one
Both great albums. Virtually equal
But imo they both suffer from not aging as well as that first initial month
When they both dropped i listened to nothing else for a couple days but months out rarely revist except some exceptions (snowchild, escape from LA, outof time etc)
i thought less than zero was overrated at first but it heavily grew on me and i love it now
I can't believe a year has passed. I know I'm going to stick out itt but I actually think it's a step down from After Hours that probably explains the overall reception and sales. A few highlights on here tho that are in my top 25 songs from him. I hope he gets this ambitious again on a more experimental sound I just think the retro trend has been done too much in recent years
Remove tyler and wayne and this is his best album
Yes they really didn't fit that well. I wish he got better features like Khalid or PND instead. Majid Jordan on Less Than Zero would be song of the decade
ITS 5AM MY TIME AGAIN IVE SOAKEN UP THE MOON CAN'T SLEEP
