If that’s the case then I can’t imagine this’ll just play like the OG with a few new mechanics.

If the boss fights could not suck this time that'd be dope. Parts of the og I didn't love but its got potential to be an amazing game

Interestingly, Kojima said on stage after its reveal that he had already started writing the story for Death Stranding 2 before the pandemic hit, but when he had to live through something so similar to what the first game had predicted, he promptly binned his work on the sequel and started all over again.

Every game gets overhauled

MGS4 & 5 are insanely different

MGS2 & 3 are the closest, but still quite different.

As one of the 14 people who played and enjoyed the game, for the first six hours at least, I’m very curious who even asked for this sequel?

It was reported by Kojima this year that the game has sold around 10 million copies to date, so the game was definitely a success .
The subreddit is still really active, and the PC release introduced it to a new audience.
So I'd say that there is a good amount of people who are interested in a new DS game
