I don't know how accurate this is for across the board for America, but it'll take years of campaigning and eduction to get people out of the mindset of the need for police.

We gotta keep making "appropriate" and "non-combative" slogans for police reform while police gets to continue abusing their power and killing people? Folk more mad about and focused on a truthful slogan than they are about police misconduct?

Like what other slogan would you want for police...well to be defunded so our tax money can go towards better programs/services that do not require police involvement?
What? Do we need to say the full thing? I don't think "Defund the police so we can reallocate the funds to EMT and mental crisis response units so they can deal with mentally ill people so the police won't shoot them" rolls off the tongue as well.

Running on “defund the police” won’t work in swing states at all, if anything outside of D+20 districts defund the police will hurt us

They took "Black lives matter" and turned it into "Blue lives matter". They took "I can't breath!" and turned it into "I can breathe!"
