    WESLEY THE GREAT

Crazy how oldheads and nerds embrace Wayne now when the same ones were s***ting on him and posting memes about him 10 years earlier.

Wayne sounds like boom bap now

Wayne sounds like boom bap now

But he still has a lot of collaborations with modern rappers and uses autotune which is still extremely hated by that crowd.

i was still on the fence a bit about the new s*** out after monster aside from Travis and thug

    Never

  • Feb 26, 2022

Nah, closest thing was being really into OF when they first started poppin but they wouldn’t be considered “real rap”

I think sonically you right but I still think it carries a very hip-hop energy in it. Egotistical and aggressive.

I’m just saying that because it allowed me to open my ears to something that wasn’t just traditional boom bap.

That’s fair. I was listening to death grips since they first came out so Yeezus was pretty mild to me compared to most other people never listen past mainstream stuff.

To me personally the best hook, the best melody, the best beat, the best piece of music that you can create still doesnt do as much for me as a fire ass sixteen when it comes to rap music.

When we step outside that box and that line that divides rap and not rap is blurry as fck everything else matters way more then the lyrics.

  • Yeah as I was growing up cause my uncle and pops was listening to “real rap” so I started off like that til like 09/2010ish.

not really I liked Eminem but that’s it

  • Feb 26, 2022

Sub genres I avoided but never dissed. Taste too broad to not understand people like different s*** than I do

  • Feb 26, 2022

Yeah I hated on Wayne a lot back in the day and listened to a lot of De La Soul, Tribe, Outkast, etc. I did listen to new rap at the time but it was Lupe, Blu, the newest s*** from Common, early Kanye, etc. I don't know when my tastes expanded a bit. Probably when I got into pop music more generally.

I still find a lot of pop trap super lifeless and boring though. It was interesting for a second in 2015 but now I'm over it. That's not just rap though, a lot of pop music is very gray these days. Sign of the times I think.

Where you were ignorant towards different styles of hip hop and you were a walking YouTube comment?

When I was in 8th and 9th grade I did.

  • Feb 26, 2022

Never did. I got into hip hop in the ringtone era and was rocking with all those songs

  • Feb 26, 2022

    The day I discovered Griselda

    AYO AYO AYO AYOOOO

  • Feb 26, 2022

Oh my gosh 9th & 10 grade me was obsessed with only lyrical rappers and YouTube lyrical rappers like hopsin. Thank God that didn’t last long
