    WESLEY THE GREAT

Do you like any traditional rap now?

Yeah, it clicked for me after I was exposed to it through artists like Drake and Kanye. My favorite hip hop album is The Ecstatic by Mos Def, love the traditional rapping mixed with reggae, Arabic music samples, rock riffs, etc.

I feel that. I’ve been in a big Alchemist phase the last month or so, bumping his new s*** with Currensy, Fetti, Alfredo etc.

These replies got me feeling old af but I went thru it at like 10-11 y.o. when I found MF DOOM online. That opened up a new world of music to me and I was definitely on some corny elitist underground s*** for a lil minute. I remember putting the homie on Sean Price in 8th grade By high school I was off all that and grew up and learned to appreciate both

😭😭😭 Hip hop forums late 2000s early 10s were the worst with this. I swear he became a legend to white people with one verse on a Jedi mind tricks song. Never heard or read anyone talking about his music outside that. Idk if I could name a single album or song

    great album

It’s the album that got me into Madlib, J Dilla, and Slick Rick. Also the album that got me listening to reggae and dancehall (along the Assassin and Beenie Man appearances on Yeezus), which is mostly what I listen to now. Great album, hope it gets a vinyl repress some day.

I ran through a lot of Alc too. The new Currensy, Alfredo and everything Boldy.

Does anticon. s*** count? It’s funny how traditionalists didn’t like them at the time but younger rap fans now would instantly be like “I’m not trying to be lyrical or spiritual with you right now, please turn this off”.

Every few years the ones that were killing hip hop become real hip hop. It all just comes down to old heads not accepting new s***

    Lil Wayne
    2 Chainz
    TI
    Jeezy
    Rick Ross

I see it happening now with 21 Savage & Lil Yachty

This is facts. It’s all about being resistant to change, which is ironically not hip-hop at all.

“Real Hip-Hop” heads the musical equivalent of the gop. A lot of them boys was riding with Trump too

Can’t fw them types of bozos
