From what Im reading Sri Lanka doesnt import most of its food so this had to be a production issue.
    export.gov/apex/article2?id=Sri-Lanka-Agricultural-Sector

They grow their own rice and catch their own fish
25% of the population works in agriculture

They do import their energy tho and have been having issues

But nah these are the conditions where revolutions start

Only in countries with bad propaganda management. We can have the same conditions in America but since it’s a slow simmer the majority of us would blindly accept it

there is no such thing as food shortage. Its just the rich and powerfull hoarding. They feed us bugs while they destroy the planet and eat the good stuff. Yea, not with me. Take your disgusting bugs and shove them up your ass. I wont accept a world where a banana or a pb&j is f***ing luxury.

They made the idiotic decision to go organic so that might be why they don’t import and it’s most likely why it’s hard to mass produce the food

Which is how you know the systems working effectively. You can’t even imagine reaching those levels of poverty but before you know it you’re at that level wondering how and when it got so bad

We’re also a top 3 producer of oil. Doesn’t mean gas isn’t $6 national average. Intentional mismanagement is our governments forte. If they want to engineer famine they’ll do it while telling you they’re solving the problem. I’m not saying we’re gonna see these conditions any time soon but our government is not our friend and doesn’t care to solve the common man’s problems

If you read the post you originally quoted and put even a little bit of energy into understanding it, you’d see that I said our government does everything in their power to manipulate and propagate us. Whatever fantasy you have of the American population banding together is not possible in todays world

I said in todays society. If we were to reach the point the Sri Lankans are at which is eventually inevitable with the widespread corruption, then society is forced to change. Until then they do everything in their power to keep things stagnant

not really seeing the disagreement here then

worsening conditions --> mass organization --> change

that being said, I don't really think the conditions of Sri Lanka are a useful comparison because their economic and agricultural realities are completely different than ours

you will most likely never see a genuine famine in the near future in America for a number of reasons

We’re probably in agreement but the entire point of my original post was the fact Sri Lankans aren’t as heavily manipulated as us. Which is why they quickly went up in arms.

If you’re familiar with the boiling frog a***ogy, it’s the best way to put it. Throw a frog in hot water and he jumps out to save his life. Throw him in cold water and slowly boil it and he’ll gladly be boiled alive

Edit: I mentioned earlier it’s unlikely we reach that point any time soon but that doesn’t mean we can’t reach that point eventually

Is it manipulation or is it different standard of living? If the people’s needs are met then no need to rebel and organize which is the case in the US and is for the foreseen future in terms of food and energy
